It's reserved for people who bought the packages that came bundled with it early on, and those who buy the beta access before and during the beta period.
I bought it during the 2.1 beta. It'll most likely be on sale during the 2.3 beta for ~$10.
All testing is better when it's open. This should've been made painfully evident when 2.1 was released to live. That said, given this is a multiplayer-related update where open testing is crucial, I expect they'll open it to everyone for free towards the end of the beta period.
'Closed beta'? I have the lifetime pass, but have not seen the beta option on my launcher this time. Is that because this one is closed, or I don't play enough. What Who? said.
It's closed beta, sometimes purchasable during beta for a price but not guaranteed. There have been open betas like for 1.4 CQC but these are rare as they go, its possible but no promises. Personally I doubt open beta, the livestream looked pretty slick apart from the networking and I assume their using similar stuff to the wings networking. CQC was different as the whole matchmaking, game etc uses different network architecture afaik.

I highly doubt they'll ever open the beta up at any point in time; it's a source of revenue. Scummy revenue, but revenue nonetheless.

Generally they open up for purchasing beta access when beta begins, did so last two beta's no reason to think otherwise.

scroll down it's there when they open for it.
It hasn't launched yet Arry. Your launcher will update once it detects the new code is available. Thursday probably.'Closed beta'? I have the lifetime pass, but have not seen the beta option on my launcher this time. Is that because this one is closed, or I don't play enough.
On the contrary, too many testers just leads to the bugreports being duplicated about 400 times so trying to find the unique ones becomes a challenge in itself. You only need enough testers to raise as many bug-reports as the developers can close-out, all further are detrimental to the process. Of course if our beta testers were not mostly in it to try the new stuff first then we'd need a much smaller pool.
