Beta Animals Can’t Breed

I’ve noticed this with my zebras and gorillas so far, under the social tab it says the male is a beta animal and therefore can’t breed. With both animals however I only have one male zebra, two females, one male gorilla, two females.

I've already put this on the issue tracker, but I wanted to see if anyone else was having this issue.

A problem I experienced during the beta period, and have had once or twice since release, is that an animal will not become an alpha properly if the last alpha is in your trade center. You have to have the previous alpha, if there was one, completely gone first. Then, if the animal is still registering as a beta no matter what, take them out of the habitat and put them into the trade center. Then re-introduce them into the habitat, which has always solved the should-be-an-alpha-but-is-not problem for me.

I don’t believe I have any other ones in the trade center but I’ll try re introducing them later and see what happens!

I am seeing this with the American Bison. Mine says "Unable to have mates as a beta animal.

Gonna bump this because I can't really play the game like this. I just tried to buy one male wolf, one female wolf, they both had the unable to mate because beta animal message, i sent both to trade center and then back to the habitat to see if that would fix it but it did not, so i sent them back and sold both, then i processed to buy a new male and female wolf and put them in the habitat, the new ones also had this message. In the other exhibit I got lions, two females, one male, both the females are fine but the male has the unable to mate because beta animal, i also tried selling him and buying a new male but it had the same message.

I had this problem with my wolves and bison & it was because I had toggled off fighting in sandbox mode. If fighting is toggled off, animals that need alpha status to breed will never reproduce. :/
