Engineers Beta backers are you copying folder

Yeah, I did it the last time and it worked fine. Hope I remember correctly - you just have to start the download of the new update and stop it after a short time. Than copy your Beta folder in the new "elitedangerousengineers" folder who was just created and download the new update again.

The download time should be much shorter.

PS.: you do that at your own risk

I think your right Shockbot. I already copy my beta Folder to a temp copy location. But it might be a good idea for users to copy the old horizon folder so you can move it back just in case.

Something I've done on every update ever due to poor download speeds from my ISP.

Just rename your elite-dangerous-64 account to something else as a backup (just in case) and then rename PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER_64 to elite-dangerous-64 and the update should be a small incremental update from 2.1 (Beta 6) to 2.1 Live.

It took 10 15 Minutes vs a few hours :p

All I have to wait for now it the Maintenance to finish and I good to go.

I was about to say the same - super-quick update for me, so I guess it's intelligently using the Beta files and updating them.

This is the golden ticket. Repped.

Thanks for this tip - FD should suggest this at updates to save bandwidth and player time/frustration.
My update is almost done... just finished in a record 9 minutes.

Not sure what mine did - downloaded once and finished within about 4 mins - corrupt file. No folder copying.

De-installed and started again and it was done 6 mins later.

Normally takes a lot longer than that...

ETA - lol - looking at the posts above it took me longer to type this than the upgrade...

Don't need to, It's patching the beta automatically for me.

So I am confused: Do we need or not to do this renaming that Harbinger is suggesting? Or just press upgrade and it will automatically intelligently scan and update the beta folder into the horizon 64 folder? :S

It scans and moves the files it doesn't need to re-download. No need to rename anything.
