Deploying landing gear or the cargo hatch has caused the ship to decelerate in FA-off for ages - at least as long as I've been flying that way, which is getting on for three years.

If there's a noticeable difference in deceleration, it suggests that an old unintended behaviour has resurfaced - patch 1.5, I think, reduced the reverse thrust in FA-off to 60% of forward thrust. I noticed this because I kept crashing into things I didn't use to. It was confirmed by one of the devs.

Ok watched some old videos, think I have it figured out. All my ports for smuggling are surface based, so it's seems FA-OFF the thrusters aren't capable of slowing the ship with the gear down (except on very low g moons) turn FA-ON and the thrusters quickly decelerate the ship. Apologies cmdr Hellfire85, since horizons I spend most of my time smuggling and hauling planetside in the live build!

Aye - there's what I'd always assumed to be a bug where if you boost in a gravity well and the ship speed exceeds the maximum it can go in zero G, it will continue to accelerate in line with the gravity, even if you reverse thrust. I usually just flip FA back on for a few seconds or flip and boost to decelerate in that case. I'd actually never thought to deploy the landing gear!

Thanks for this update 777. I'm flying FAOff more and more and like the feeling. Still working landings.
