[Beta] Found "Bark Mounds" in the Pleiades

I just found another site of the "Fungal Life" that was found near Colonia - but in the Pleiades sector.
Apparently, they are called "Bark Mounds".

Comes with a tourist beacon that says

Tourist Spot 0664

The life cycle for Bark Mounds has yet to be fully witnessed. As such, no one is quite sure how it spreads between plantes, and even star systems.
Since they apparently can appear anywhere in the galaxy, that is an interesting topic.

Found Cordycep Growth (turns into Carbon when shot and collected), Polyporous Growth (Manganese) and Phloem Excretion (Yttrium).

The tourist beacon's data:

The location is
Pleiades Sector HC-U B3-0
E 1
(~60k LS, a high metal content world)

Found in the current beta.

Those have been mostly refered to as "Spires" around here. I wonder if that description was written by Frontier or submitted by a cmdr. Check the Geyser thread for info about them if you want to see where other sites are, or Madraptors site.

I had a hard time doing research about these things since their name I found doesn't come up anywhere at all. At least, through the growths on them, I found out that I didn't discover anything completely new.
Kept me from ringing the big alarm bells and making a fool of myself :)

Still a nice thing to find, was there a mission going there or did you just stumble upon the beacon? Keep a look out for "crystal trees" and "tube-worms", those haven't been found yet as far as I know!

Great find Flash G! . Even if its with the tourist beacon , i assume FD added that by a Cmdr find, they said only adding found sites.
I've Been looking to confirm the Bark Mounds were in the Pleiades, or if there was some reason they are not there.

Bark Mounds,, well if thats what FD calls them, thats what they are. i think Cmdr log refers to them as that too. I call them Cone Fungus though,, have done for quite some time before we had a proper name for them now.

Already located several in various Nebula. There are Criteria for them to spawn, and seemed strange no finds in Pleiades, till now at least.

Will be heading there to check it fits into the pattern.
Checked the site.. Unlikely to visit the moon if just passing through the system, 70kls away , but a viable planet with right criteria. only moon that was viable infact.
beacons dont show till <1000 ls i think, so most likely found location due to passenger mission.
No beacon there in 2.2 but the fungus is. And its quite a nice find., didnt think they would grow in open near mountains. so its added some more info to our knowledge. More places they can spawn and places for us to search on planets.

I report this on another forum:

"What is strange, they removed Visitor Beacon 0664 in the Pleiades Sector HC-U b3-0 system. I just checked planet E 1. That was the Bark Mounds site. No more Bark Mounds there."

Anybody can confirm it? Am I just missed something? I wasted a lot of time there.

This thread is over a year old. During the last few updates before the introduction of the codex bio sites were reset and some that existed vanished and new ones appeared in different locations, it's likely that was one of the sites that vanished. I don't think there's a need to continue this thread really.

I found the old sites redacted, but the systems they are in are viable.
Only the placement was incorrect after the changes.

iirc there are on other sites on that planet and other planets in that system still

back in the old days bark mounds were not easy to locate, as we didnt fully know their spawn criteria but most of all each had to be located by tiny POI, or visual eyeballing of each planet with no DSS etc.

i did bug rep the missing beacon to see if it could be relocated to one of the other viable sites in that system however after the exploration update the new FSS and DSS bark mound are so easy to locate.
