Beta Stations As Ground Bases?

Hey, dudes. So I've been wondering how planetary ground bases will be integrated once implemented (in the distant future). Does anyone know if FD are planning to make a pass and change some of the existing space stations into ground bases, or simply go through and throw a lot of new locations in on planet surfaces?

The reason I ask this is that a couple of the beta locations so far seem to me to be named more appropriately for ground bases rather than orbital facilities; Beagle 2 Landing and Azeban City in particular. Freeport and Aulin Enterprise I could see swinging either way, and the likes of Chango Dock and Dahan Gateway probably staying as orbitals.

What do you guys think? Any juicy insider info to share from some of you premium beta backers?

I think they will remain as they are and ground stations will be added as extras. I don't think FD would suddenly take orbital outposts away as it would seems rather odd from an immersion point of view for them to suddenly vanish and be replaced with ground facilities.

It's planetary landings and exploration that made me back the project.
For me - even though it's awhile into the future - planetary bases, Starports, city's and secret bases is going to be the best part.

I can still remember skimming a moon in Frontier and taking photos of a secret Federation base for the Empire - great times.
I can also remember seeing 'landed' Thargoid ships there as well! :)

Never did trust the Feds.

my hope is for multiple stations around popular places. I imagine Earth should have 20 - 30 Stations, ranging from small to big, perhaps specializing in different things. Having many cities ground side also seems likely.

Impossible to imagine ED without the planetary landings. Without the planetary landings, Ed would only be a half portion

Not to mention that FD would be in trouble - it was one of the most popular "incoming" features and a LOT of people backed this game just for that.
