Beta Still available?

Hello there folks,

As a BBC Elite player back when I was 7 years old I have hoping for this game to be made most of my life!

I have just found out about this great venture and am very keen to contribute, hello to all of you on this very active and friendly forum.

A couple of questions about donations,

1) Are access to Alpha and Beta testing still available now the KS period has ended?

2) What goes on in the private forums? (if the first rule of private forums is not do not talk about private forums...)

3) What does it mean to be a founding member?

So glad I have found out about this!

Hi Sam,

Firstly welcome to the forum. :D

To answer your questions.

1) Are access to Alpha and Beta testing still available now the KS period has ended?

Yes. if you go here you can pledge upto £200 which gives you Alpha access.

2) What goes on in the private forums? (if the first rule of private forums is not do not talk about private forums...)

Don't even mention it....:D No the PBF is very similar to the main forum.

3) What does it mean to be a founding member?

This is from the KS FAQ

“The Elite” are a secretive group of intrepid pilots. Throughout human space, there are a great many people that have been helped by “The Elite” over the years, and because of this “The Elite” are treated well, wherever they go. Whether it be discounts on buying special items or repairs, and the small number of founding members even greater benefits. Other benefits include a greater likelihood of being offered rare missions or opportunities. Membership is offered to pilots who have proven their ability by reaching “Elite” rating within the Pilot’s Federation, but the founding members are not put through such an indignity. All “The Elite” are entitled to display a special silver “Elite” emblem, and the founders a golden one with the word ‘Founder’ beneath it.

Yes is the answer! Go to https://elite.frontier.co.uk/register/

1) Alpha access is on limited availability for pledges of £200, Beta for £100.

2) The DDF is closed now, but the Private Backers Forum is available for pledges of £75.

3) Pledge £150 to get Founding Member status.

As far as I'm aware the DDF is still open, I'll check it out for you.

The private backer forum is very similar to the main forums at the moment, but I reckon it might seem like a haven of tranquillity once the game is out. If you're planning on using the forums down the road, it might be worth considering for that, but otherwise there's probably not much point.

Hi Sam,

I just double checked and yes it's still avaliable to anyone who pledges at the £300 level. :D

There is a line on that page about registering for a full list of rewards - maybe that covers it.

Thanks for all the replies.

Rather than make a new thread I have a couple more questions that I have been unable to find answers to.

1) Can anyone describe the factions to me? I am assuming the Imperial Empire is the dominant, more technologically advanced side and the Federation the rebellion against their control?

2) I have signed up for the private members forum, will this require an Admin to give me access, with the associated wait time or should this be automated and available to me already?

Thanks again guys!

For the Factions there isnt really a dominate side, Empire and Federation are roughly the same advance lvl (as far as we know) there's the Alliance too, and then some minor Factions/Corporations with degrees in size.

Sorry about to go to work, but if no one else links you to relative info search Factions in the threads you should find some interesting posts of what we do know..........one thing though i would say its more then simple bad verse good, all factions have good/bad points, read what you can before making your mind up if your interested in one or the others. :)..must dash!

The Factions as far as I'm aware are more or less equal in power and are in a state of "cold war". Officially they are at peace but skirmishes break out on occasion particularly a bit further from the core. The main differences are in values and politics. The Imperials are far more style concious, more honour based and still have a form of slavery. The Federation are more functional, more about order and frankly you don't want to side with them ;)

There are also the Alliance which is a more loose group of independant systems for those who don't want to associate with the Imperials or the Federation. You should have a look back through the Dev diaries and in particular the fiction diaries as there is a wealth of information in those about the history of the ED universe.

I can't honestly remember if I had to wait for access or not to the Private backers area so can't help with that one, sure someone else will be better informed than me

Access granted within twenty-four hours, was my recent experience (automated, I think).
