beta testing in general.

For OP,

Here is my little experience what i had.

Many years ago i was a part of the Dark prophecy closed beta tester group i submitted some error reports, with my observations, but after a while? I made my final verdict about that hopeless pile of....

Game.

And that was to walk away. Silently.

Your turn. :)

I miss the times when Beta testing was performed in house by a developer as part of a development process. However, we live in age where being beta tester is a privilege that you have to pay for :D

Yeah... To pay to be the prototype test pilot, (beta) is just bad. We going to have enough problems with V 1.0 anyway. There still will be child sicknesses. But to give a bunch of players whom want to have nothing else just play, and have fun a half ready bugged product? It's do nothing good, just takes away their love from the game. Too much problem, not enough fun, half ready game system. Good for no one! Such things can only give bad name to the game, in the long run? It's takes away more, than what brings.

Back to Dark prophecy? I wasn't mistaken in my judgment when i tough this game cannot be salvaged after a while its shut down. But this is something what you cant tell them right? :D

Back to this? :)

Anyone remembers the Interplay slogan? :) It's an important step of the process to draw in the experienced gamers, and that's the real meaning of beta testing. But i think this is something you must handle carefully.
