Betancourt Base Bonus

A Youtuber tutorial on exploration and gaining rank to 'Elite' via a bonus program for data submitted to Betancourt Base caught my attention. I did a bit of calculating and figured this would be a great opportunity for me as a casual player to finally have a shot at Elite rank. Finally ferry the data into Betancourt Base and....
DAMMIT !!!! Bonus no longer applied to rank! I'm a casual player and spent days collecting all the data only to find out I need to dedicate DOUBLE AGAIN the hours! All the way into Pioneer rank with over 100 mil in credits, but there's no way I'm doing that twice again in the amount of time remaining.
Did the youtuber get it wrong, or did Frontier eliminate the rank bonus? I don't know, but to whoever got it wrong, Merry f'n Christmas ! (obscene gesture)

The Youtuber got it wrong: it was established during the CG that the bonus there doesn't apply to neither squadron exploration points, nor personal exploration rank progression.

As for getting to Elite, if you focus on mapping (with the DSS) the valuables, and don't waste time on the rest, it shouldn't take you all that long to get the rest. If you're only exploring for the rank, then you might as well get the 3x bonus from LYR (which is one boring grind): that one does apply to progression.

Exploration for rank takes many hours. It's considered easy as you have pretty much zero risk of being destroyed in Solo mode. I got interdicted several times, but carried no cargo or weapons. If you game casually, only an hour or two each night, it will be a LONG grind. I dedicated extra hours to try and make this happen. F'd.

Just talked to the Youtuber and he says Frontier screwed up by eliminating the rank bonus with a recent patch.
SOMEBODY OWES ME AN ELITE RANK !!!!!

Right, so I made some calculations - don't really have the time to post them in detail, but they are simple, so anyone can replicate them easily. Quick summary, from Aimless to Elite:
1. Road to Riches: 10.7 hours required without LYR bonus, or 3.6 hours required with LYR bonus
2. Actual exploration: 21.3 - 32 hours required without LYR bonus, or 7.1 - 10.7 hours required with LYR bonus

But well, if you don't enjoy exploring (and judging by how upset you appear to be, you don't), any amount of hours will be a grind for you.

" If you can't stand grinding: just don't grind. "
That's what I was doing before this bonus thing came along. So I thought, what the hell why not. Got the carpet yanked out from under me.

There you go imagining the bonus applies to rank. It does not, at least not any more. That's where I have the problem. I really didn't care about it at all until I came across an opportunity to reduce the grind for elite rank. Such a deal! So I dedicated time to something I wouldn't normally do specifically for this bonus, which was withdrawn or never existed, I still don't know which. I was lied to. Deceived. Duped. Played. Suckered. That's what I'm upset about.

I understand that grinds for things like rank are part of the game and had no desire to actively pursue rank. I was simply playing the game, figuring things out, and learning as I went. I got sidetracked by a shiny prize and feel like I got screwed over.
