Bethesda Starfield Any info?

Pretty excited about another Bethesda project. Especially with the title Starfield. Fallout 4 in space would be pretty darn amazing. Anyone out there with information on this project?

I have teensy weensy little wish for any future Bethesda project:

Please for the love of all that is holy do not couple the animations to the refresh rate. Having to jump through hoops to get Fallout 4 to give me smooth mouse control with no input lag or acceleration only to find that lockpicking is next to impossible because everthing is sped up was a pain. A great game with poor implementation in many areas.

Whatever this new game is it would be safe bet that this it will be a multi-platform release so the usual concerns are there regarding console ports, including the above.

I think a Mass Effect type open world Sci-fi action RPG.

Simon Bisley, the legend. Each frame is a work of art. Infact I scanned and magnified some of the old ABC-warrior frames, wrapped em in glass and put em on the wall.

*EDIT* LOL sorry, guys. Was refering to the Bisley comment above. Back to bed...

Bethesda trademarked the name Starfield several years ago, which was the genesis of all the speculation. They've also said TES6 is a very long way away, too, and I seriously doubt they are doing Fallout 5 on the heels of 4. So they must have a different IP in the works.

I think there is something to the rumor that Starfield was going to be unveiled at last year's Berheda show at E3, too. If you watch that it's obvious they had a star/sci do vuve in all the backgrounds and such on display. Yet nothing they demoed was like that. Their show was widely panned as being very anemic too... like it was missing something big enough to justify all the hype.

Eh, make what you will of all that. Ita dun to speculate. :)

Bethesda have one huge issue and that's called their engine. They have big tech debt and I doubt they can move any further without creating new one for their game - or adopting let's say Unreal.

Yeah, thats the big issue, latest games from them just looks muddy full of pop ins, even on hard core hi tech PC`s. I dont think this engine should be pushed any further.

To be fair to them, there aren't that many engines that would handle their style of open world without trouble. The closest thing is the modified CryEngine Ubisoft uses in their Far Cry games. And that one isn't even nearly as capable as Bethesda's inhouse one.

I am not too fussed about their engine. Yeah, it's aged...but it works 'enough.' I'm sure they will probably build a new one, though, just given how old it is now. Even if they didn't I'd still be very excited for a new game from them.

Yeah, they've released tons of brilliant game for ages now, pretty much all of them coming with a clunky/buggy engine, weird unintuitive UI and unable to run decently on average pc specs at the time of their release since Elder Scrolls: Arena... They make the difference elsewhere. :)

My impression is that Bethesda were essentially creating total conversion mods for the engine they created for TES: Oblivion and sold them as full video games. Just look at how they implemented vehicles in Fallout.

The it's bye bye modding! UE4 is great, but is incredibly unforgiving towards modding.

Oblivion and FO3 used a commercial engine called Gamebryo. Skyrim and FO4 used the Creation Engine. My guess is Beth has created an entirely new engine for TES6.
