better kill warrent scanners.

I had an idea to improve the KWS. Pretty simple really, a successful scan should mark a target as 'wanted' if they're trying to hide in a system where they are 'clean'. this would inform local security forces that they have an 'undesirable' amongst them, as well as giving you a WARRENT which then allows you to KILL them, without becoming a murderer yourself.

this could cut down the amount of griefing in the game, by making it possible to be followed, scanned, and destroyed for crimes committed, no matter where you try to run to.

do you think this would be a good additional feature to the KWS, and can somebody explain what it actually does in the game right now, other than earn you a few extra credits?

The KWS already does that.

If you scan someone who doesn't have a local bounty but does have an 'allied' bounty, you will get a warrant to attack them for that bounty (and won't get a bounty yourself for doing so). Their legal status will change from "Clean" to "Warrant" on the panel in this case.

If you scan someone who doesn't have a local or 'allied' bounty then you'll see that they have the bounty and can claim it if you kill them, but the local law enforcement will side with them if you try and you will get a local bounty for it. Their legal status will stay "Clean" on the main panel, but you'll be able to see the bounty in the details on the left panel.

Certainly the most common use is to scan ships which already have a local bounty to see if anyone else wants them dead too - but it can be used on locally clean ships.

I wan't one that uses the same mechanic as the FSS
Honk on entry to a System then look at the secondary screen and play 'whak-a-mole' with all 'crims' from one place... next system

Does the KWS still work?

I remember a while ago it was practically useless...did FD solve the issue?

If so I'll strip it from my combat BH ships.
