Ship Builds & Load Outs Better miner ship?

Currently going for this mining fit on a Clipper:
https://eddp.co/u/811MRahv

I wonder if anyone can come up with a better setup with the same ship or a different ship? Better in terms of jump range and/or collector limpets deployed; no engineering modules please. Just want to do a little bit of mining as I attempt to collect some materials for engineers. I don't think I can do the SRV-shoot-at-rocks thing so mining is what I'll be doing to get some components, Phosphorus in this case.

Thanks!

Personally, I love the Beluga as my mining ship. You sacrifice a couple limpets compared to larger ships, but not a big deal. Still have 5 collector limpets. About 200 tons of cargo space. I'm never going to sit in a field long enough to mine 200 tons of ore. 2 prospector limpets. Scanners. The mining lasers are right next to each other and right above your head in the cockpit. It's very maneuverable so obviously makes the turning from rock to rock easier. Give it a try. That's all I can say.
I use the T-10 as a passenger liner.
The Clipper is not going to give you a good mining set up just because it doesn't have a lot of room.
If I could have on ship and ship only in the game, it would be the Python. I have a fleet of 21 different ships, and I still say the Python is the most versatile ship in the game. The one thing (or two) the Python REALLY needs is two more utility slots.

More than 4 or 5 collectors is overkill. Just plant yourself in the sweet spot after you deplete the asteroid (witch will take a while with only 2 lasers).

When you move to an Anaconda to mine, it could look like this:

- As for your build, change the size 7 collectors out.. for cargo. Then you will have 196. Buy 180 limpets and go blast some rocks.
- Also the 5A sensors.. nah.. What do you need range for? Go light .. 5D.
-if you go to 3 lasers, maybe lose the Shield booster... less heat.

If you only want to mine for mats and 1 item (lets say you took a mission) you dont need a size 4 Refinery.. use another Prospector in the 4 slot.. and a 2A (six bins) refinery.. cargo at 194.
then.

I have been mining in Asp, Python, Annie, Corvette, and the Cutter. The Corvette is a good miner in Res Sites as it still has dangerous weapons. But the Cutter is my Favourite Mining Vessel. 512t cargo, 3 x d2 mining lasers, 12 collectors. But no real weapons. So only use her in Rings not extraction sites. She is heavily engineered, relatively fast and Looks gorgeous . Only issue I have is I keep switching to the external camera to watch :)

Cheers for the suggestions guys! My main issues with my current fit are 1) it takes too long to collect the fragments even with 3 collector limpets, 6 may be required minimum and 2) the mining lasers cuts out after a while -- not enough PD.

I was debating Python vs. Clipper but I was focused on jump range, where the Python is weaker. However, taking into consideration more than double the cargo capacity, I just might re-fit my Python instead of messing with my Clipper. I would re-fit my Cutter but it's currently too far away and I don't feel like doing the flying just for some mining.

Sorry I don't own a Cutter, Anaconda is the only big ship I have.
This is my Mining Python build though, although I later ditched 1 of the 3d collectors for an ADS.
Whichever prospector controller you get, make sure it's an A grade one as you get more chunks from an asteroid with those.

More than 4 or 5 collectors is overkill. Just plant yourself in the sweet spot after you deplete the asteroid (witch will take a while with only 2 lasers).

For an Anaconda, 4 collectors is not enough & definitely not just 3!, at least not for regular mining, for a 1 off mat's gathering, yea I guess so.
But for a proper mining build you want at least 5, if you have 2x2D mining lasers then you want at least 6 collectors, otherwise you'll be waiting on the collectors & that extra mining fire power is wasted.
And you don't need more than 2-3 prospectors.

Here's your Anaconda miner/fighter build tweaked a bit :)

If you want to get serious about mining, more cargo space allows you to stay out there longer. I've outfitted a T-10 for mining, which includes a fighter bay. I let my crew member fly one fighter and often times host multi-crew pilots in the second one. With this setup, I can mine while the fighters take out small pirate ships. If it's a true threat, I can always switch to weapons and fight.

This is my current Python mining build: https://eddp.co/u/vPudwozi
And my T-10: https://eddp.co/u/e7fClGdS

I like to have at least 3 collector limpets per med. mining laser.
A c7 PD can push 3 of those ok.
That matches up with the 4A refinery well.

The c1s are kind of a waste of time imo.

I recently added another prospector to both (reflected above), at the cost of a collector.
Haven't tried out the new setup much to be honest but the change is based on some pretty experienced feedback.
