Better missions!

I have been playing ED for over a year now and one thing I still don't understand is why the missions have been improved so little when this would be quite easy to do in my opinion.

Some examples of missions which would spice things up a little, taking advantage of what is already in the game:

- Convoy Intercept: engage and destroy said convoy (or one or more ships making up the convoy) in a specific time frame and location or anywhere along the convoy's route

- Convoy Heist: engage and steal goods from a convoy, as with the above, and recover x amount of cargo. This would also be a cool co-op mission possibly requiring sufficient cargo space to carry the goods, needing one or more combat ships and a cargo ship

- Escort: Wing up with an NPC trader and escort them to their destination, clearly with a good chance of pirates attacking (or with the likelihood of this happening depending on the cargo and route)

- Search and recover: Look for a mission specific cargo item using the cargo scanner, intercept the ship and recover the goods.

- Base assaults (Horizons): attack and destroy a surface installation (not just the "cut the power" mission), possibly with defence fighters. If the installation belongs to a pirate faction or a faction involved in civil war, without getting a system wide bounty.

- Low altitude intercept (Horizons): Intercept a target or targets travelling at low altitude from one location to another on a planet (this would also highlight all the cool mechanics involved with gravity and flying close to a planet's surface, plus dogfighting amongst the canyons and mountains, which is always awesome)

These are just some ideas that came to mind and I hope to see some replies with more cool ideas.

Oh, and of course difficult missions need to pay a bit more, I am not really encouraged to take missions when I can make 5 times as much HAZRES farming. I don't mean easy money of course, the high paying missions have to be very dangerous, but I would like to see some more substantial rewards.

Precisely. It was all in the X-Wing series and maybe being shelved until Military Roles.
Having said that, I'm loving the game since the recent tweaks in 2.0.5 - I had 35 Pirates to kill in 3days. So I swapped the Asp to the FAS and did it all in 20mins. Had fun the NVIDIA Full Dynamic Colours switch totally changed the experience especially in SC with all the gas clouds floating across the moving stars. It now does feel much more alive.
 
I've been hoping for quite a while, but it seems to be taking a really long time considering all the mechanics are already in the game. I know nothing about programming but I would guess that implementing these changes would not require a huge amount of time and effort and it would make a big difference. I play a lot in wing with my mates and would love to have some co-op missions where we have to (or are incouraged to) work together rather than just splitting the bounties in Res sites, especially considering I can handle almost any target alone in my FdL, which is far from being a top end ship.
