Better perks for becoming Admiral in Federation etc

The titles given by the Federation and the Empire are entirely honorary. They don't give you any actual military authority. It's kind of like being a "Kentucky Colonel". Colonel Harlan Sanders had no military authority over the Kentucky national guard... and his chicken was so greasy that he had make excuses for it by calling it "finger-licking good". No Colonel. It wasn't "finger-licking good" it was simply soaked with grease and oil.

I'd like to at least see a little lore behind it. I'm a Duke! A nobleman of the Empire! FDev are brits, they know way more about nobility, titles and dynasties than I do, but aren't I supposed to have some territory that comes with it? Even just an empty patch of space that maybe will be worth something someday? Or am I just an 'honorary nobleman' for service to the empire, with no 'lands' and a title that can't be passed on to my space kiddies?

See post #10.

I really like everything you just said. I need to go find a .gif for 'immersion' responses... [noob]
:D

I like this! as it would add more atmosphere to game. Especially if you are using 3rd party tools like TTS4ED, that uses Text To Spech to play back all the chat messages NPC says! (something I would really like to be an ingame option)

Its the icing on top of the cake.

Ummmmm...good enough? for WHAT exactly? 50 million creds a week sounded amazing when Powerplay first debuted, but even average play can earn that in a day now; well-planned trade running can earn it in an hour--half that if you have a buddy or two willing to help with wing source missions. Even before improvements to missions, 50 mil a week in exchange for constantly running propaganda back and forth was hardly noteworthy.

To be fair, there are other reasons to partake of powerplay and 50 mil is still a nice injection of cash, but it's right up there with exploring: if you're doing it for money, you're doing yourself a disservice.

In some cases i have made a 400 mil Cr profit by source and return missions in a wing while hauling forts, preps and expansions. So i know that a a commander can make much more than that in a week. But i think that once you reach rank 5 50 mil is sufficient, i won't complain if it becomes higher. Also i think that you are correct in that you don't do PP for the money.

Sorry to play devils advocate here, but you say the titles are completely honorary, and that they don't give you any military authority. Quite true - as it stands right now, they don't give you any military authority. But is the first statement drawn from the conclusion of the second? Because surely in a game world open to change, you can't draw conclusions based on evidence that is dynamic which can potentially change. If you take out all the logical analysis of what I'm saying: Where is it officially written down that these are plainly honorary titles. Also to nit-pick with your analogy, the Kentucky Colonel wasn't awarded his title by any official entity, he was self proclaimed. Where as we earn these titles from official entities, completely different.
