Hardware & Technical BEWARE: All Saitek product purchasers in the U.S.A.: 90-DAY WARRANTIES ONLY !!!!

Purchased a Saitek X-56 Rhino HOTAS with a 2-year warranty. Logitech purchased Saitek and Logitech is now saying that anyone who purchased any Saitek product in the U.S. only gets a 90-day warranty !!!

When my first X-56 arrived defective, Mad Catz (who owned Saitek at the time) customer support assured me that, because the first unit had arrived defective the replacement unit would carry the same, two-year warranty as the first. Jump ahead to eight months later, my $250 USD joystick breaks, Logitech says I am out of warranty and what's more, there are two warranties: one for the USA and one, apparently for everywhere else. Gee, I wonder where the lion's-share of X-56 HOTAS' were sold? Anyone? Beuller?

To anyone considering the purchase of a Logitech (Saitek) device of any kind I urge you to reconsider. After all, you apparently never know which warranty you will get from Logitech, the one they (or the previous owner, whose obligations Logitech took on when they bought Mad Catz) profess before the sale, the one after or the one later on? RNG warranties for everyone !!!

90- day warranty on a $250 product? Never would have bought it. It had a 2-year warranty, according to the manufacturer and now all Saitek warranty info has been removed from the Saitek and Mad Catz websites. Convenient, eh?

That's weird. Logitech are great normally. Two years ago my 11 month old G710+ keyboard wrist rest broke (the small catch) I asked them if they could sens a new one. They said they had none in stock so sent me a whole new G710+ so now have two.

Also they replaced a mouse without a quibble.

I'm in the UK so I wonder if that makes a difference?

90 DAY WARRANTY?
They won't get away with that in the Netherlands.

Sorry to hear this. I suppose Logitech discovered too late what a mess Saitek is atm. and are trying to limit hemorrhaging from recalls until they can get production quality back in line. Leaving customers with the bill. Bad form by Logitech of course.

In this administration? Probably. The current SCOTUS nominee believes that corporations get to redefine contraception and set religious standards for employees. Just hope your law suit doesn't get that far or need DOJ/etc intervention.

Uk as well here. Never had issues with Logitech and warranty replacement stuff....so far

They were a nightmare with my x-56, took weeks of being ignored, being passsed to people who don't speak my language and arguing with threats of claims court and finally had to take pictures of me trashing my old already broken kit before they would slowly issue a replacement to me, took nearly 3 months of daily hassle :/

I think Logitech is aware of the appalling quality of the current Saitek HOTAS and tries to contain the damage.
I hope they will improve the quality eventually, because the sticks are great if they work.

My Saitek X-52 Pro and Pro Flight pedals are pre-Madcatz ones I bought in 2007 or 2008 and are still going strong. Been used regularly with MS Flight Sims, X-Plane, IL-86, DCS and now Elite. Must have got a good one.

they wont get away with that in NZ either. seems like consumer laws in the Us favor the company rather then the purchaser. that really sucks balls.

no its that the x52 Pro and their flight pedals are built properly. the new rhino hotas's (x55 and x56) are dog vomit.

I'm a Brit, but have lived in the US, and a friend of mine there won a case, along with a few hundred others under the Lemon Laws.
Lemon laws are American state laws that provide a remedy for purchasers of cars and other consumer goods in order to compensate for products that repeatedly fail to meet standards of quality and performance.
Is it worth setting up a register of all US owners of Saitek joysticks and Hotas who have had premature failings. Here and other game sites where these devices are frequently used.

Since Logitech customer support :x (there is no Vomit emoji) told me I am out of warranty I have carte blanche to open her up. This is what I found:

This dooky little spring. No wear anywhere, not on the spring (except for the obvious break), not on any of the associated parts, not even contact scratches. They didn't even offer to sell me a replacement HOTAS, joystick, or grip. Just, basically, It's all Mad Catz fault, screw off.

Well, as a trusted, professional I.T. consultant I can say with no exaggeration that I have sold thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars worth of Logitech keyboards and mice over the decades. Well, Microsoft makes perfectly good keyboards and mice, joysticks too and I can no longer justify promoting Logitech products given the terrible customer "support" and apparently flexible warranty terms.

I have a kitchen whisk made of the correct gauge of wire. I'll coil it around something, give it the necessary bends, torch & quench to harden it and turn it into a spring. Logitech can toss my salad. Moving on to their Facebook page . . .

I have read that pre-Mad Catz Saitek HOTAS setups are unicorns and more valuable than credits or crystalline gold.

My X55 trigger went pop about 4 weeks ago contacted Logitech and started the process of a warranty claim.

Been a bit of a struggle had to send in a video of the problem and chased emails that were not replied to made a few phone calls.

I would have been happy with a repair but as the X55 is discontinued Logitech offered a replacement of a X56.

Fair enough I thought, might be able to use the X55 for parts if any are interchangeable, then they emailed requesting a proof of destruction.

Before the replacement product will be released for processing and shipping, we request that you permanently disable your current product in a safe manner. Once this has been done we would kindly request that you supply proof of this by taking photographs of the complete, disabled product from three different angles, one of these pictures should clearly show the product details such as PID/SN, and include a handwritten note with your case number in each of the photos.

You must keep the disabled product in your possession until you have received the replacement product, unless otherwise notified.

Recommendations (depending on the product involved):
(1) Disconnect all cables from the product and/or any other sources they might be connected to.
(2) Check for alternative power sources, such as a battery, If present please remove it.
(3) Cut all cables belonging to the product.
(4) Disable the product and the internal chips in a safe manner that clearly shows in the photo the product can no longer function.

All photos should be sent in the original, unedited format. Pictures sent in that have been edited will be scrutinised and this may lead to either a rejection of your claim or an extension of handling time. As such, we highly recommend using the original JPEG or JPG file from the camera.

Errr excuse me? Even though the trigger has gone I can still use the unit... quick call to them and explained there was no way that I was going to totally knacker the unit without receiving the replacement.

After a discussion they agreed to a cable cut as proof so I got the scissors out and "snip"..... damn that was a hard thing to do...

Sent the pics last night so I'm waiting to hear back from them.

It's a daft way do do things but i can just imagine the poor persons face on the other end when they hear the word Saitek....

Yeah, odd that Logitech made me create a video of the problem and upload it to them BEFORE they made the decision to deny my warranty claim. If the warranty is expired, why do I have to create a video?

I have a original Saitek x52 I purchased 10 years ago. It still works but getting a little long in the tooth. I decided to spin the roulette wheel and purchase a x56. I worked in the aerospace industry for a number of years in electronic repair and fabrication. and felt pretty confidant after looking at the u-tube videos of people disassembling the unit that I can repair any problem that will eventually crop up. I figured I would purchase the unit from Amazon as they have the option to purchase a 2 year warranty for about 10 bucks and was at least covered till then hopefully weeding out any right off the bat faulty units. Well the unit was delivered today and i overlooked it and was very careful on how I unpacked the device on the chance that I would have to repack for return shipment. made sure all previous drivers and programing software was removed from my computer and reinstalled latest and greatest software from factory support page. And.......everything worked...... Except the buttons on the joystick handle itself..........Carefully repacked item and will ship back to Amazon tomorow. Lost this round. If you do take a chance and purchase this stick buy it from Amazon and take the 2 Year warranty!
