Beware Complacency (Or How I Nearly Lost 1.1M In Bounties)

So there I was, trolling for pirates in a RES when along came this Anaconda. I was with a big wolfpack of NPC System Defenders at the time that had taken down two of them and several Imp Clippers already so I thought "Hah... another one for the grinder!"

Unfortunately this 'Conda must have been peed off and loaded all the top rated modules. I took his shield generator down to 15% and then something weird happened. He quite literally wiped the area clean of NPC's and my Viper got hammered down to 12% by the time I escaped. At the time I had 1.1m in bounties from that run of previous 'Condas so I nearly screwed up big time... so I learned my lesson... DON'T ASSUME ALL NPC SHIPS ARE THE SAME lol... Oh and bank my bounties more often heh.

Yeah... I think this Conda pilot was laughing his socks off.

What was the NPC's rank? I run into Dangerous extremely rarely, Deadly and Elite literally never at a RES. And to be quite honest, all NPCs ranking below that are utter lamers.

Stupid me didn't even look. I'd spent hours in the RES and never had a problem keeping 100% health. Only time I dropped before was when I ran into a rock when I sneezed an rammed the throttle to full heh.

I think it was probably a Dangerous to take out all the NPCs like a fireworks display. Oh and the darn thing chased me through the rocks too. Scary stuff. And to think I thought this game was boring and crap when I started playing. Love it to bits now.

Hehe. Good you made it back in one piece. I'd really love to see high-ranking NPCs pop over to a RES scrimmage. Those usual ones, up to Master, aren't 'foes'. They're practice.

Although a Master Cobra and a couple of Master Eagles firing all at once can be practice with a twist

That's why I got caught out... I was having a really easy time of it and then a harder one turned up and shocked me, the rest of the NPCs and then it was nearly all wreckage. Hell, all the NPC WERE wrecked.

I'll definitely keep my eye on the ranking in future. I'm currently saving up to outfit my new Vulture... I kept the Viper to make the money to fit out the new fighter you see. I need 11m apparently so just grabbing the 2m I think you get for trading it in isn't worth it.
