Powerplay Beware of the might of Yuri Grom

Simply terrifying.

I almost feel sorry for him.

I expected that after Rise to power victory Grom will be TOP 3 power easy, but in reality he is in bottom TOP 3 all the time...strange...

Because PP work is dull dull dull.

As a new PP player as well as a new ED player (PS4), I can see how it is dull dull work. However, for me it breaks up the monotony from picking up passengers, transporting cargo, exploring deep into the black, etc, etc. I have it set up so I can do 1 run a day, in a Type-7, with 285 materials and easily maintain rank 4. After that one run I go do other things or I've already done other things and am ready to make that 1 run.

Players for a small power could end up grinding 10k merits + per week easily.

Now, week after week, that is a grind.

I suspect that there are a lot of players for the larger powers doing the same.

Edit: this is why a collapse mechanic is required.

The collapse mechanic won't make the day to day activity for Power Play interesting, it will just remove Powers that CMDRs have dedicated themselves to for 114 weeks for little reason and no Lore tie in.

It would make attacking actually have a point, and give a reason to fortify. Most seniors signed on thinking Collapse was in.

Bring new powers in and get out of that comfort zone.

Well, yes, that would shake things up and be welcome. If I recall correctly, I remember some dev mentioning that the Power Play system is capable of hosting 20 Powers. That's what we need to make collapse both viable and interesting. You could have a stable of 25-30 Tier 1 NPCs, and swap out the bottom 3 every time one hit the collapse threshold. Module shoppers would have to defect to the bottom three to boost them while waiting for their modules. The galaxy map couldn't survive with massive bubbles, because we all saw how quickly Grom's introduction was able to reduce the Hudson and Delaine presence around Clayakarma. Imagine if another 9 Powers were inserted. The attrition and weaponised expansions would be horrific.
