Hardware & Technical Beware Saitek HOTAS users

So I purchased a X-55 back in February...the castle hat is mushy which we all know Saitek quality is about as bad as it gets....here comes Logitech buying them out.....I submitted a warranty claim with Logitech and they contact me.....I'm thinking this might end ok.....I get an email that the device is out of warranty. They explain the warranty is now 90 days on it.....at the time of purchase it came with a 1 year warranty.....so Logitech arbitrarily changes the warranty period to avoid repairing it....nice way to treat a customer......!!!

What country did you purchase it in. I know if you are in the EU, that is not allowed.
If it was bought with a 1 year warranty, then you have a 1 year warranty. Pretty sure they can't change it after your purchase.

I suggest you contact them again.

I'm surprised at this.
Although every country has their own corporate/consumer laws, the basic understanding is that when one company buys another, they also inherit the potential liabilities, in this case warranties.

If it was purchased in the EU, then it has a statutory 2 year warranty.

Not allowed in Australia, either.

Consumer protection laws are very good here, actually - a short warranty period won't stand up if the time frame is not a "reasonable expectation" for however long the thing "should" last...

I currently have an X55 rhino, but will NOT be buying another!
The new Thrustmaster, seems like the much better option going forward.

Sad to hear Saitek is junk manufacturing. Then again just about everything is nowadays. The only 2 quality constructed HOTAS setups I have found are CH Products or Thrustmaster. Everything is just a shinny pretty gimmick poorly constructed, but don't it look good. Kinda like what happens in the gaming industry. As long as the devs can fool the customer with pretty pictures, and bogus ingame footage they can sell it. Or even the burger joint down the street with the pictures of the perfect burger that they advertised then give you a squashed lump of food. Don't think Trump will change any of the deceit in any industry, after all that's how he made most of his wealth.

They can't deny the warranty. You need to call them back. They plan that you won't.

Asus a few years ago lowered their quality dramatically and shortly there after had to change their warranty period from 2 years to 90 days on their mobos. Luckily they had to honor that warranty 2 days before it ended. They didn't want to and refused me several times before I mentioned legal avenues I would choose to go through. Then they rightfully decided to honor their warranty. Any business will try to screw the little guy, unless the little guy knows how to scream about the fraud.

You purchased a HOTAS and it came with a ONE YEAR warranty at time of purchase. If you have your receipt and are within the warranty period as stated at time of purchase then make a stink. Logitech cannot change the terms of the warranty to avoid liability ex post facto.

PS: My X-56 is working great after several months.
