As the year comes to an end, so does Season 3. A good time to review Beyond I think.
Improvements to Trade Tools were welcome but don't go far enough. The economy is still lacking and needs some serious attention. Still not fully invested into the Thargoids War, sorry FD. Won't take that seriously until the Goids stoping dancing around Sol and start attacking ships within infested systems, regardless of if that ship is in a AX-Combat Zone.
Liked the improvements to C & P. I can be a Pirate now, then swap ships and not have half the bubble after me. Engineering improvements were welcome but work needs to be done on fixing bugs and balancing with some of the experimental effects. I'm still weeping about the nerfs for High-Yield Shell, which is still useless after 3.3.
Chapter 4 was the real meat and spuds which for now, makes me love FD long time here. Major love for Exploration and Mining, and reduction of RNG for USSs. There's so much to do in the game now, places to visit, stuff to discover, rocks to crack open and/or drill into. Love the multiple states for each faction. Love the side-buff Piracy received thanks to Mining. Love the scenarios. Love the new combat zones (when ships show up that is!). Love robbing, attacking and defending megaships. Love the FSD Boosters. Love the FSS. Love the new clouds. And blowing up rocks? Awesone. A great work out for the surround sound system with visuals to match. The credit rewards actually reflecting the work you've just done and the time spent, is a rarity for FD, and the icing on the cake.
The new lighting? I dunno. In some places it looks great. In others (inside stations and even on the Galaxy Map) [where is it]
Hate the obsession with medium-sized combat ships with variants galore, and with combat content in general compared to well, everything else. Enough already please, FD. Work on the Mamba should have gone onto Limpet Controller Arrays which would have benefited all players regardless of profession.
Speaking of ships:
Kraits and Chieftain/Challenger [up]
Crusader :x
Mamba :|
Still no Imp Medium Ship [down]
Still no Panther Clipper [mad]
In short: A much needed update with some fantastic work. Bugs need killing (no, not Thargoids) and plenty of room for improvements, hopefully between now and Chapter 4. But, for me anyway, the game has never been in a better state than it is now.

So what did you think Commanders? (And Happy New Year!) [up][yesnod][up]
