Beyond Chapter 1 release - Any explorations planned?

I've been meaning to get my exploration head on for some time. Largely BGS stuff keeping me at home. But no way am i staying at home after the Chapter 1 update.

I had planned Silly Ships 3, but decided i'm not happy with my planned format.

Anyone planning a reasonable (but not massive) trip for post update? I'm thinking a max of about 20k out, maybe less.

If not, shall we put our heads together? Or shall i just try and kick something off?

I do plan on a Silly Ships 3 wing as part of whatever goes on, i already know what its going to be. ;)

I am around Colonia and will go epxloring both in beta and live versions - if planets live up to the hype. :)
The advantage of being here is that cool places are at the doorstep.

Heading back to fit a T10 fer beagle point...not sure when Ill be setting off...sometime in the spring perhaps, I havent so much as bought a T10 yet let alone started hanging baubles on it, but thats the plan...sorta ^

So, just taken a look at the expedition hub. There is the Beagle point one setting off this month, possibly before 3.1 is out of beta then(?) and the Perseus survey also looks like it has the same schedule.

Hmm disregard my earlier comment, I misunderstood the question. Yer asking about group expeditions...I assumed that I was a group of just one. Im not in any player groups because I dont like being told what to do. My bad fer misunderstanding the question, apologies ^

With new planetary tech one goal could be to discover or update entries for the Galactic Mapping Project. Many images and entries will be made obsolete with the update, but I don't know if that could be made the basis or a part of the goal for some local expeditions?

Possibly.... not sure something i'm interested in doing myself. I prefer to go to new places, not go over old ground.

If we want to see what a difference has been made, re-visiting planets might be the best way.

Perhaps a tour of the Guardian sites? At least there'll be something to look at, and there's plenty of pictures taken to compare the updated views to.

I might have something for you, and for others as well. I plan on doing a search for possible places for humans to hide from the Thargoids: Earth-like worlds inside (or close to) nebulae. Preferably away from the bubble and Colonia, so they'd be harder to find. (With all the traffic to and from Colonia, it shouldn't be hard for hostiles to find.) The good thing about nebulae, especially the proc. gen. ones, is that systems in or around them have impressive skyboxes, so anything you find should make for some good screenshots. With the coming landable planet visual overhaul, it should be even better.
A benefit of such a search, as opposed to an expedition travelling between waypoints, is that you can stop and resume at any time, without feeling pressured to complete the next leg of it. Of course, I plan to share any good finds with others, so that might be useful for them too.

I haven't picked any target nebulae yet, but I'm thinking of heading to the Gallipolis ones. If anybody would like to join me on this, let me know! (Then we can pick a fancy name and perhaps logo, heh.)

Nice, although i tend to aboid nebulae, most of them have been visited by many people. I'd go for somewhere less well travelled, although it does mean missing out on the views. Having said that, can always visit some nebulae along the way.

Yeah, you're not going to find any "virgin" nebulae (unless you count planetary ones, of course), but there are still plenty of unexplored systems. Those which are procedurally generated in high stellar density areas can have enormous amounts of systems in them.

Yeah, a few of them are mostly untagged, depending on how far out you go. The "Mynoaw" nebula (sorta near-ish to the Great Annihilator) has probably a few thousand systems in it. I tagged over 200 of them and barely scratched the surface, finding maybe 10% of them already had been tagged. I'd say it's still 90% unexplored, and it's not even on the far side of the galaxy.
