Never played the first one, but the idea and concepts of this one (havent seen any real gameplay footage yet) seem quite attractive:

The first game was one of my first PC games I played. Loved it very much, probably played it a half dozen times since.

I am massively happy that the second is being made at last. Despite the full on swearing which is completely out of character from the first game, I get a distinct feeling from the trailer that they are capturing the right things for this new game.

I just hope it's not a 2020 release or something but it does seem very very early in development.

Massively excited....did I say that already??

I think it looks interesting. I don't mind waiting for a while, it is not like they are burning players money.

Quick question for the inhabitants of the isles: The monkey´s accent, that is cockney, right?

I've played first game the year it came out, I think. 2003 if my memory serves me right. It was...amazing. Been waiting for another one since. So that makes it almost 15 years :D I think I can wait a little bit more.

What I liked most about the first game was that it was one of a very small number of games I've played that a gave a damn about the characters and what happened to them. The writing was great and funny and sad at times had the whole range of emotions in it. Very very few games do that well.

I just hope they asked Luc Besson for permission before they completely ripped off The 5th Element for their opening video, and Eric Serra for the musical 'homage'.

Don't think that's fair really :)

The first game had this "5th element" feeling to it before 5th element was a thing.
How so? First game came out 6 years after that movie :D Not that it matters. Comparison is very much a stretch of imagination, there's very little in common atmosphere-wise.

Their tech-demo already has atmospheric landing and full-sized cities. Frontier needs to catch-up. The game-style is cartoony though.

The challenge of atmo landings is based on how much detail you want the flight model to have. In this vid, it seems the flight model is of very little concern at all, it is just there to get the player from A to B. Which is fine, but its not really interesting for ED.

It's a very ambitious sort of game this. Seems like it will be massive. Not to mention the seamless transitioning is quite good indeed.
