Just completed a thoroughly enjoyable, full on weekend of ED Beyond.
I only signed up to ED 6 months ago but have tried to engage in most aspects of 2.4 gameplay and completed a wide range of mission types, with varying degrees of success and failure.
For me, the Beyond update has further enhanced the ED experience.
Enjoying the new planetary colour changes and surface exploring now throws up many more discoveries and goodies to trade. Material gathering with the expanded storage feels more rewarding and the neat little ‘key’ to denote that a meterial is a required ingredient in a pinned blueprint is very helpful
The new trade tools are great. A brief galaxy map commodities search found a very lucrative 3 way trade loop that netted millions in a short session in the expanded Type 9 And a couple of solo’d ‘wing’ missions thrown in for good measure was the ‘cherry on top’
Switched to the new Chieftain, engineered a few modules, in the easier to understand and gain improvement, Engineer feature, and a quick trip to search out a mat and tech trader to pick up a few missing ingredients was handy. Then had a blast running some of the riskier ‘collection’ missions, interupted by hopeful pirates (I’m a well below average combat pilot but that chieftain fire power and manoeuvrability gave me a fighting chance and even increased my combat ranking a little) and so many more USS spawns along the way to check out too.
The multi option reward scheme adds a great new dimension to the mission running element too.
Victor has been a refreshing change of companion along the way, along with Galnet.
There have been a few minor hiccups, a couple of fines I still don’t fully understand how I amassed. A few lost mission cash in’s. A muderous bunch of pirates hiding in a ‘Threat 0’ USS that destroyed my Keelback inside 15 seconds and the return of random planet dark square patches and floating rocks.
But overall, a thumbs up from me so far and looking forward to exploring more and seeing what the comes next.
