BGS: effect of missions on already pending WAR state?

Hi, just hoping someone can inform me on this: once I've equalised the influence of two factions and triggered a pending WAR between them, is it safe to mess with their influences during the (3 day?) build up to actual war breaking out? Or will I somehow break the triggered pending WAR state if influences become unequal after the pending state has already been triggered?

I'm just wary of doing anything with either faction once I've triggered the pending state because I'm not sure. So I've just been waiting until actual war breaks out.

For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill. Hence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.

As rubber says, you can destroy the opposition before the war starts. Once a conflict state goes pending its locked in to go active.

aaah, excellent. In that case I'll avoid the CZs and, instead, Cargo Mission the opposition to death before the war even begins.

ooop, I didn't notice the BGS Forum, srry Mods.

Thanks for the help cmdrs!

The Frontier Dev forums are the last place I'd expect to read a quote from Sun Tzu, let alone for the quote to be astoundingly relevant!

I've moved the thread to the BGS forum.

FWIW we try to avoid having to fight for anything other than recreational purposes!

Stacking the odds by doing missions while the war is pending my favorite BGS tactic. I just did it last night for this... thing that I'm doing...somewhere.

I think this is the 2nd time I've personally witnessed someone post a quote from Sun Tzu on the Frontier forums, the 1st was by me. I seen me do it. :D

Once you've triggered pending war status, nothing can prevent it. Widening the gap between your faction and the opposing faction is a good practice to have a sure victory!

It's how we always worked the % in our favor. Specially when there weren't many people about who would be hitting the CZ. It's a very convenient way too (as long as nobody is working against you, naturally).

When I see a Sun Tzu quote I think of this guy:

Though it was Shan Yu who he used to quote.

Guys, guys, guys!

I won't open a new thread just for this Q: but what is the actual difference in influence needed for WAR victory? I've seen different figures: 3%, %5, and 15%.

I'm guessing 15%, is it?

Wars need a 5% gap for a victory.
Civil Wars and Elections need 3%.
