Bgs not working as it should?

I am currently working a system main faction is in boom and civil liberty with a dead player faction .
I have been doing various missions for the player faction and have managed to move this up to 2nd place . However I am unable to bring the main faction down under 35% . I have murdered the main faction and done up to 200 inf for the player faction .
And the main faction will not drop even after 2 days of murder . It is a small population . Small traffic amounts .
So my question is are some systems borked and should I waste any time on BGS in this system ? I'm not new to BGS so I'm aware of the fickle nature but this system isn't playing right .
Thanksn

Try boosting the bottom faction while still supporting your faction to some degree. You will get a big effect for little effort and although it will drag all the other factions down, it will close the gap between first and second place.

Yes tried that and we got minimal movement and then nothing for a few days in a row even just doing any of the lower factions works but the top doesn't drop under 35 . And no work to be seen for the top ( low traffic) . But thanks for your input much appreciated

What does the bounty board say and are there res sites in the system? Is the controlling faction in charge of another system with res sites? Smart explo data drops show up as just 1 traffic. As far as I know murder doesn't do anything for inf, it effect's the security level. Murdering, just like any other bgs activity have diminishing returns and for some of them the fall off is quite severe.

Is the main faction in a conflict with another faction? - This will lock their influence
Are all other factions in conflict with each other, except the main faction? - This will softlock the main faction's influence by not allowing it to transfer to other factions
Are you murdering the main faction's ships in the main faction's jurisdiction? - Murder only affects the owner of the jurisdiction it occurs in, not the owner of the ship you destroy

If you're comfortable, drop the system/faction names here or in a PM and I can have a sniff.

There are no conflicts in system , I lead the bounty board . The murders are in system where I want to drop the inf .
As far as I am aware murder like blackmarket are minus inf actions . The only issue is the faction is in boom and civil liberty . 8 ships in the last 7 days edsm 3 in the last day . So not a busy system .
I have been doing inf for the faction I want to move up ( I know more isn't best diminishing returns ) . Thanks

Not the CMDR leaderboard. The turned in bounty board. The one that says something like "In the last 24h so many bounties were turned in for so and so many cr". If it's not there then no bounties were turned in. Black market or selling for loss works for neg inf for the controlling faction. Black market doesn't work if it's an Anarchy faction that actually helps them, but then you shouldn't be attacking an Anarchy system to begin with.

Could be 1 person doing the work for the other faction. Is the system in a power play sphere?

Thankfully it was a system which didn't tick , properly for about a week ? but now we have movement . Just a fyi and thanks for your pointers . Bounties were minimal, 19 ships a corvette a couple of Annie's and the usual flotsam . But thanks again .
