BGS problems forcing me to take a break!

It pains me to say it as I love Elite but the background sim is just not working it's broken and whatever my squadron do we cannot influence two player factions we support in two systems. They gain very little inf through doing missions and non of the rival factions ever decrease. I have even tried attacking system security and innocent traders in one system to try and bring down a max security, economy and happiness rating. Literally 3 days of solid crimes now I'm notoriety 10 with my Federation and Alliance reps in tatters. I cannot dock in two systems now! Little or no effect.

I do love the idea of the new tools, squadrons are great and the scenarios are brilliant but whats the point when the info they give you and the things you think you are doing are false and have no impact at all.

Normally I'd log a support ticket but I reckon this is one thats going to take Frontier a while to fix and balance.

:-(

Maybe catch you guys in a few weeks!

Hello steve_muzz,

Please do log a ticket, either with Support or here. In order to combat and correct issues efficiently, the team need as many detailed reports as possible. These reports will aid the team in deciphering if the issue is a bug, or something [within the BGS] that needs a re-balance.

I'm going to share a message that Ed made a few days ago in regard to BGS influence balancing:

Letting us know that you're not seeing the expected results after Saturday's tick from your actions is useful feedback, but we need specific information to enable us to look into your particular circumstances.

To look at an unexpected faction result, such as "We pushed a lot of +inf% to Faction A through missions, bounties & trading, Faction B and C had a bit of +inf% in the same system from bounties, so Faction A didn't increase as much as we'd expect", as a minimum we need to know:
- the faction
- the starsystem
- the approximate date when you saw the unexpected result

In addition, to consider your feedback when we're investigating the balance of particular actions, such as a mission result affecting an unexpected faction, or some exploration data sales not having a positive effect then we'd also need:
- all of the above AND
- your commander name or names
- the approximate date / time or location of your actions

To make sure we can achieve the right balance, and make the best gameplay experience for everyone, when reporting on this issue please reply to this thread with a comment containing the specific information listed above.

Hi Will,

Thanks for the reply. I fully agree we still should flood you with bug reports and enough details in order to allow you checking root causes for what we perceive as a possible bug - but might not be one.

However that's part of the current issue.
It's hard to decide for any one player whether outcome of activities affecting BGS are intentional or result of a bug/error.

I fully understand you guys don't wanna reveal all secrets as otherwise things might become too obvious, simple or boring.
But please consider whether a few general rules or say hints might be given to us.

Helping us to assess better the situation we are in.
I'm not expecting something like when you do activity A you will increase value X and decrease value Z .

But a few ideas being shared with us would be really helpful.
Exploration data don't contribute to a faction's influence (or with a significantly decreased impact)...
Murdering system security doesn't impact controlling faction's influence negatively (or decreased impact)...

You know what I mean. Some hints. Please help us to help you.

On a positive note side.
Since the last patch (3.3.0.2) we see most activities again have some positive influence impact, on a reduced scale, but progression can be made.
So the re-balancing showed some effect already matching expectations.
