Bi-Weekly or monthly maintainence/bugfixes

Elite has many bugs, imbalances, and issues. Why not bugfix every few weeks alongside community goals? It would keep the player-base much happier, and slowly progress the game instead of asking us to wait months for a simple fix on something like bgs or HGE spawns. Most other online and offline games patch fairly frequently and consistently, why would you opt out of doing the same? Start with small fixes that you know won't be potentially game-breaking. Frontier seems perfectly capable of nerfing and/or fixing exploits within days or a couple weeks, yet there are plenty other issues that largely seem ignored due to what appears to be a slow development pace. Frequent patches and fixes would go a long way toward retaining a strong player-base, because we can see and test out active development in more real-time. Instead Frontier opts to wait until mid-late 2020 for a major update with a small number of small patches sprinkled in. The number of active players has dwindled again since 3.3, part of that is normal, and a major part of it is the fact that Frontier updates the game at what appears to be a slow pace, by doing seemingly little-nothing to the current build while creating a "major update" a year or two in advance. More regular bugfixes and tweaks would help the player-base remain active in the game because we know we won't have to wait up to a year for a simple fix that could be implemented fairly easily.

I'd be quite happy with a monthly bug fix update. No new features, or anything, just fixed for common problems.

Leaving things broken for a long period of time is quite detrimental to the game.

And yes, I fully understand that if we got monthly bug fixes, this would annoy some people because the game would be offline for half a day, and said people lack anything better to do or complain about. :p

FD knows the quietest office hours time to throw out a small patch, but I'm betting a Tuesday...

Didn't the lack of regular weekly and monthly patches and fixes come about precisely because players complained about there being to many small patches, so FDEV decided to confine bug fixes to major patches except for game breakers?

I could be wrong but it's just something I remember hearing quite a while back.

The main complaint was that the bugs they fixed weren't the bugs that were most annoying but the esiest to fix. And the scale of the bugfixes wasn't enough as it merely was a small water drop on a burning fire with gasoline.

People complained that localisation fixes were being done and that some visual bugs like clipping or transparent parts of ships were fixed, but things like NPCs seeing you in silent running and being able to lock in to you with gimbals and seekers are still not being fixed despite it was announced as "unintentional behavior" years ago. Same for combat logging.

The reason they don't fix it is because it simply isn't a typo in the code but the theoretical logic behind it is just blantly flawed and has to be reworked, which obviously takes more time than cinverting a - to a +.
Atleast that's my guess.

But even then, the reason is irrelevant. Fact is, we have to deal with bugs that exist for a long time now and sometimes exist since day 1.
And that is, to say it kind, absolutely sad and pathetic.
