Astronomy / Space Big Bang Theory ruled out! - Possibly....

...I find it amazing that someone from the scientific community would make such claims without any backing from others in the community. I looked and looked but could not find quotes from other scientists who could verify his claims. This is an unbelievable oversight on his part and one which seems to me to affect the credibility of the paper.

If it had credibility he'd get it peer reviewed and published. That is the way of science - take the recent FTL Neutrinos - The team that discovered that (and it has far more legitimacy than this) published so that it could be debunked. And... The debunking helps because it means other scientists don't make the same mistakes (Even failed science is useful when done properly)

So... I suspect that his peers think he is a crackpot and won't publish, or he whilst he is right, he just isn't a proper scientist and following the correct protocols (Unlikely and equally crackpot IMHO) . I'd say crackpot I'm afraid... (Even Einstein published properly for example...whilst working as a clerk i think)

It describes a paper that was self-published by a 25 year old physicist from Michigan.

Can't watch it in work, but this is straight away ringing alarm bells. Only trust scientific papers that have been peer-reviewed, don't fall for sensationalist crap online.

The Big Bang theory is extremely well-supported, with a wealth of observational evidence from many very expensive telescopes run by rather smart men and women.

The Big Bang Theory show is boring and trite with far too much laughter and irritating characters. I was kinda hoping your post would say *it* will be destroyed in flames :(

Well I don't know enough about cosmology to comment on its problems and deficiencies, but that guy's alternative is nonsense!

Look at how the light behaves at 3:20 or so...
A) that kind of bending is ludicrous

B) it's going the wrong way!

Since star light travels TO Earth, not FROM Earth, his theory would require that Earth is the most massive object in the Universe!

...Please note that he also mentions his intention to publish other related articles including the purpose of life, psychology, agriculture and climate change. MMMmmmm........

That right there rang alarm bells for me too. People who are serious about scientific research as a career tend to specialise in one area, gaining as much of the current knowledge as possible, and then they are qualified to comment. The fact that he has expressed intent to discuss topics in the areas of biology, psychology and meteorology is a big red flag in terms of his credibility, as all of those fields require advanced knowledge and years of study. At 25, I would have expected him to have been able to achieve one Ph.D, not three or more in completely separate fields of study.

A good rule of thumb with respect to the credibility of scientists is to look at how many papers they have published during, and more importantly, after they gained their Doctorates. The volume of papers published, how often published, and more importantly, how often cited in other peoples' work. Some of the most respected scientists have accumulated over a hundred papers over decades of work, with an average citation index in the high double, or even triple figures per published paper.

I suspect that Mr Physicist from Michigan has not published a single paper. The PayPal link is just the tip of the iceberg.

I think his paranoia regarding the established scientific community trying to censure his work speaks volumes. Plus, of course, the complete lack of reviews and/or endorsements from any other scientists.

But my favourite part has to be his statement that during college a teacher overhead him talking to another student and was so impressed that he called him to his office to tell him that he's a genius, so we MUST believe him.

To be fair, the first couple of seasons had some better humour in them and the characters actually referenced stuff that nerds care about. Then it got way too popular and the writers/producers apparently decided that they would have to start laughing more at nerds and keep the nerdisms at a level that the common man could understand. Hence we get jokes about WoW and other stuff that the average viewer might have heard of, instead of smarter stuff that might amuse the nerd viewers (if there are any of them left).

@Dr Wookie

Thanks for your comments. I was looking forward to them. I was first skeptical of his data that he produced on one of his graphs. I don't pretend to be an expert in this field but you usually explain how you acquired the data and he doesn't really go into this in much detail.

I'm looking forward to his next video with great anticipation....
