Big cats and climbing

I built a Bengal tiger habitat yesterday and come climbing frames/ledges. I checked that area with the heat map and it had the green lines on the climbing equipment so I assumed they could climb it. When I first put my tigers in, one climbed up onto a wide ledge but was immediately boxed. After that, none of them have climbed a thing. These were ready built climbing frames so I assumed they’d were suitable for a big cat.

Is this normal?

Bengal Tigers don't need to climb as far as I am aware, Jaguars do tho (if you are looking for a cat that does)
Climbing can be a bit flimsy and might box up your animal. Either try and move it around or try another one.

To be honest I’m very surprised Bengal,Siberian, and the lions climb in game although I really like having the feature. In real life a adult lion or tiger will only climb when necessary as their weight would severely hamper their efforts.

Thank you both. Maybe it’s a size thing as I found the cubs climbed but not the adults. I really want some climbing cats so I’ll try some Jaguars!

The jaguars climb a lot, so you'll have fun with that.

I find the tigers climb more than the lions. I always put in a basic climbing platform in my lion habitat for them to sleep on but it never gets used.

this is why we need some leopards and clouded leopards.
The snow leopards do seem to climb objects (especially trees) more than my other cats?

Well, it depends how you define climbing. They are no comparsion to leopards or jaguars, but they definetly like a good lookout too and will climb "easy" trees to steal a leopards meal.
Google will give you tons of pictures from lions and tigers in trees.

To me this highlights the need for building pieces for animal housing, holding areas and other enclosures.

I downloaded a zoo that had an excellent off show housing area for wild dogs. I thought I’d try putting lions in the enclosure instead of the dogs to see how it looked but the lions immediately and dramatically escaped because the bars were made of pieces which were climbable even though in real life they would never be able to escape an enclosure like that.
