General / Off-Topic Bigbrother

Logically, anyone who is really good at what they do, will be looking for better opportunities elsewhere; unless they really love what they are doing to earn a crust.

The 'software' is not really required, as any boss would be keeping an eye on their top people. Linkedin, was mentioned in the story and that site can keep you informed of your workers activities. Then you have 'networking' with other companies similar to yours; along with general 'gossip'.

Here in the UK, the DWP, use Trojan and key-stroke tracking software, to snoop on claimants. You cannot make a claim on-line, without accepting such cookies; which makes it all perfectly legal.

I hate the intrusion in the private life. Mainly by the world of the work
Work doesn't want you to have a private life. Its not convenient. But this is just the tip of things. Intrusion, control, infringement on basic freedoms...

I don't want to get started on this. I've gone through some stuff lately that's opened my eyes about corporate America and government in general. I wont get near done ranting before I'm permabanned from these forums.

Yup.

This idea you work somewhere means you shouldn't look for better opportunities is nothing short of a bold-faced lie, and an employer always ought be worried. If you're interested in job security, then you need to be interested in it. It's not something you just put in with one leg.

(Quite ironic the title of this thread is "Big Brother".)

Up to and including having their managers sneak around behind their unaware employees and read the emails they're composing. This happened to me. I could have punched that guy in the face when I turned and caught him reading something very personal over my shoulder. But I didn't. Guess in my age I'm becoming too conventional.
