At least when it comes to sounds 
Ok I appreciate this will not be to everyones taste... After spending a huge amount on Plasma accelerators for my Conda I was disappointed to hear it sounds like... Well not like a huge frikin gun!
So it dawned on me that I could use voice attack to enhance some weapons. I used to play a star trek game called bridge commander, great modding community there, I have thousands of weapon sounds. I used the Tri-Cobalt torpedo sound, you can use pretty much whatever sound you want. Great for big subwoofers and BK gamer setups.
For those with voice attack head here - Go to the sounds section and pick whatever big gun sound you want http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/
