Bigger mail slots

I don't think bigger slots are the answer. However, the current system just isn't realistic (At least not at all stations)... One slot would not be used for entrance and exit unless the docking system controlled both of them.

My thoughts are that either two slots are needed (a fly-through on spherical stations and side-by-side slots on those stations with only one available facing) or the docking computers should also queue and guide your ship out, so that the system gives a "time-slot" to your ship instead of continuous entering ships to avoid.
Question would it be easier to protect One opening with a few vipers vs two openings with twice as many ships. There also a 30 old history of Elite stations had one opening.

its not only that.
given that all the starports want to have their big reactor aligned with the rotation axis, its always on the oppositte side of the letterbox.

If the reactor is an issue, I understand. 30 years of Elite stations having one opening doesn't matter. If we're going for realism, we need either enter and exit slots or a docking system that controls both directions. The NPCs dock the same way the docking computer does, one right after another. If you're trying to exit a busy station station in a big ship there's just no time. It doesn't make any sense for the dock to control entrance and leave you to twist when exiting.

You have to remember Older station I assuming was built and fabricated in the area they are needed in.. The newer station like Jaques Station are flown to a new area if they are fitted with engines. So front side will always be used for entrance/exit. Also, it leaves backside for expansions for people to live in and food supply. It brings in a story how they are moved.

Hay John Streutker tell me a station that you are having an issue with? It still going to take a few days for me to get to the bubble but I want to view what you say is a busy station.

from my experience,
a busy station is one, in open, where you meet other players.
every player "brings" additional NPCs to the traffic.

this also results in lots of npcs beeing shot down by station lasers, as their "hosting" player probably left the instance

that at least my theory about this

I spend most of my time in HK Aquarii at Leestma station. Of course it's not always busy but every couple days I'll be there to pick up passengers and the station just gets a rush of incoming NPC ships as I'm leaving. I travel to random locations every day so I can't name the ones I've passed through that were really bad. I just don't remember.
