Bigger, Smaller, Hotter, Colder... me, really???

I got the "Bigger, Smaller, Hotter, Colder" EDSM badge for finding a galactic record!!

But I am puzzled does this mean I actually discovered (first) a galactic record and if so which, because I have no clue(!) or does it just mean I went somewhere that is a Galactic record - such as Ishum's??

It means you first reported a record breaker system to EDSM. Look for your EDSM name on this page to find out which one...

Looks like you have the Farthest White Dwarf from Sol.

I was surprised to have one myself, but it's not something I actually discovered, I just happened to be the first to go there with EDD syncing to EDSM.

How does EDSM even collect this data, from your player journals? Because there are quite a few badges that I should have that EDSM doesn't recognise.

Yeah. EDD or EDMC syncing to EDSM or EDDN.

The thing is, even if the data is logged to your account, the badge may not show up for you until you or someone looks at the entry in the database.
For example, I didn't have the badge for discovering an ELW until I looked up one of the ELWs I discovered, then the badge appeared.
I think for retroactive badges, the system needs to be triggered by looking up the item.

That would make sense, I had suspected something similar. I'll have to test that out later and see if I can get it to recognise that I have, in fact, been to Sag A*, etc.

I keep getting Badge notices of various kinds, just since 2.4. I think it's a bug, myself.

There's a slow moving background task that is parsing the data and handing out badges,

Just look up Sag A in your flight log and open the details page for the system and the badge should show up right away.
For planetary discoveries, you have to open the 'Bodies" tab for the system page.
