I just had the most intense bit of Elite Dangerous gameplay yet! These happened on *consecutive* jumps 22,000 LY out. I'm farming neutron stars and am well into a big trip doing some proper deep space exploring. Scanned 650 neutron stars so far.
1) Found my first Earth Like World! woo-hoo! I've scanned dozens of water worlds but my first ELW (furthest planet out orbiting a star a neutron star)

2) Neutron star and T class star with rings. I'll go take a look at the T... WOW! Very very spread out, almost line like, completely black rings, transparent against the sky. Looked amazing against the background of inter-galactic space meeting the core. I'm 1400 LY up out of the galactic plane so it's a really sharp divide/contrast.

3) fuel scoop active, flash, blackness. I'd just jumped right through the middle of a star! then popped out a couple of LS past it with the neutron star just in front of me 0.2LS away. And I really did jump up in my chair! I flew off sideways a bit to take a picture from 5LS away with the neutron star and star both in the same shot. scary... Then I selected another neutron start in the galaxy may and it was exactly where I was pointing, between the two of them. So careful not to go too close to the neutron star, hit the jump button, accelerate, skirting the corona, 4, warning, 3, warning, 2, too late to cancel the jump, 1...

4) 128%, smoke and sparks, I couldn't move! panic! jump finished. Too Close! Emergency Stop! I'd forgotten to throttle back during the jump! Now 128% over temperature and only 0.1LS from a neutron star! Temperature dropping and breathe... Luckily only 1% damage done (down to 94% hull now) and I jumped out (hitting 90% temperature in the process!) safely.
Time to go and sit quietly with some cocoa!
