Binary stars - Death trap?

After arriving at a binary system, and logging out. Then reloading the day after, I noticed that the binary stars had changed... Of course they had. they rotate around each other.

Then I Just had a realization...

What if you arrive at a binary system like this:

And then you save and log out.

When you return the day after... the stars have circeled like this:

Will you be died?

I think your position is saved relative to the closer one of the two stars, therefore you would find yourself moved together with it.

That would suck LOL... I seen a system like that, scanning both stars was a piece of cake, the heat damage I sustained was a little un-nerving though. I didnt stop there by any means. Now worst case senerio would be to be sandwiched between two white dwarves, that would ruin your day!

Well, the situation could occur even if you are "locked" to the main star. I've seen some pretty close binary orbits.

I read your posts in Zoid'es voice... Wopwopwopwopwopwop. :D

I think the game position you out of harms way if that would occur?

I can't recall the system name, but I've pass through it a couple times, and the binaries are so close, I would never even risk flying between them.

I've noticed that the game doesn't log you back in to *exactly* where you logged out from in many cases. I suspect you're grouped with the nearby mass and orbit with it (which also makes real world sense).

Most likely the game also checks for things like this and fudges your spawn point accordingly.

I am Trashberg, Zoidberg's distant cousin. Mind if I fertilize your caviar?

More pictures, maybe explaining the situation more accurately:

Will the game move us out of harms way?
