Binding Key option for engaging the DC?

Currently, the DC is activated by throttling to zero during approach after requesting docking permission...

However, having this as a bound key to turn on/off would be so much less hassle! At present you can't slow down too much during approach or the DC kicks in. Stopping briefly to let a ship pass is obviously not an option either as the DC kicks in... But it is helpful to use the DC to do the last touch down bit...

Can we have a Key Bind option please for the DC ON/OFF... Then I can fly the approach an just use the DC for the last few seconds to touch down.

Please! [yesnod]

Devs have mentioned this previously, they don't want a DC keybind, same with docking requests.

You have a few options, macro it (takes a few seconds to setup with voice attack)

Disable flight assist to manually disable the DC.

Cheers 777...

Neither is a great option (I have ongoing problems with VA that means my voice profile keeps getting corrupted after about a week and has to be reset).

So, you have to kill all forward momentum before using FAoff ... or you just keep moving, which is kind of the point. So throttle to almost Zero, FAoff, Zero, FAon/FAoff... Really? this is FDev's preferred option for this?

With FA-OFF the DC goes into a standby mode, no need to kill momentum. When you want the DC to re-engage just enable Flight assist. Throttle position and velocity has zero effect on the DC when assist is off.

Not much else I can suggest really, perhaps try another program that does macros, really shouldn't be an issue, solves many of the key binding issues within ED.

Not that I use DC often but current arrangement seems most logical. The engaging procedure may seem a little clumsy, but I think that more important thing is that you are able to take control back from DC just by slamming brakes or throttling up, instead of looking for a button/key, or shouting on VA.
