Binding multiple devices to an axis

I would like to be able to swap from my Xbox controller to my HOTAS without having to restart the game and swap .binds files. I'd like to use the controller for flying around in SC and trading but also be able to grab my HOTAS on the fly if I get into combat. I have looked in the options menu but the GUI doesn't support binding multiple devices to a single axis and I have gone into the custom.binds file and tried to add another device manually but I can't seem to figure it out.

Has anyone gotten this to work or have any ideas?

Might want to stick this one in the Dangerous Suggestions sub-forum. More likely to get the required visibility there.

I haven't seen a way to do this, you can bind keys and an axis to controls that have both options but not 2 things to a single control.
The closest would be too create a set of bindings for one device, copy and rename the custom bindings file and then create the bindings for the other device. That should allow you to swap using the drop down at the top of the controls menu, however is not going to be ideal as the game continues while you go into the options menu to do this.

Awesome I'll give that a try it will still be better then having to restart each time.

Hope it works, I've not done it myself but saw another poster recommend it as a way to keep your bindings should a patch mess with the default custom bindings file.

More interested in having custom presets as a feature myself. Fiddling with config files isn't great.
