Bindings File

I just moved everything to a new computer. I copied My Documents, moved my gaming hard drive and then tried to play ED only to find that my keybindings are located in an obscure, hidden, system file that I didn't copy. So now I am spending the next 2 hours, or longer, recreating my controls. My suggestion is to either move the keybinding file to either the game location or to a file in My Documents.

edit - I have realised that the Binding file is already in the Users folder so this can be ignored as a suggestion.

They are in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

Copy that from your old to new computer.

Did you find your journal / log files? They are in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\

Thanks but my old computer is no longer with me but the you raise a good point. I copied all of my User files to the new computer so maybe when I first started the game I selected generic joystick and that overwrote the Bindings file?

I'l try and get a copy of the old Bindings. Thanks for the input.

There's always a "generic joystick" option there, it was there when I moved my stuff across to my new laptop and I thought I had lost my bindings, but down the bottom of the list is an option called "custom", that's where your saved bindings are. If you have started to re-save them that's where the new ones will be written, overwriting your old ones when you click "save," so you may indeed have overwritten your old ones unfortunately.

Thanks varonica. That is what I have done. I started to recreate my Bindings before I posted here. :( No problem I am sure I can get a copy of the old file.

If you had a custom binding file setup, you'll need to have all your peripherals used at that time plugged in to have the game reload the file correctly.
Don't know if that's of any help to you, maybe ?
