Bindings resetting

I'm having loads of grief with certain key bindings resetting back to standard and others not working at all, luckily I have not gone all out yet to change everything and am only changing a few at a time to keep the problem manageable.

Seems that a reboot of the computer resets them, anyone else having a similar problem, would like to get this problem sorted so I can set up my Joysticks.

Yesterday for example, went looking for some guardian stuff, got SRV out and had to rebind FWD/REV back to my prefered W/S on keyboard, making my fire/scan not work on mouse 1/2 even though bindings were set to mouse 1/2.

Any pointers would be helpful, thanks.

Your bindings file is located in here:
C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

It's probably called Custom.3.0.binds or something very similar.

My preference is to back them up to a different folder.

Have a look in the file BindingLoadingErrors.log to see if it gives you any clues as to what is happening.

Also make a note of the bindings file modified time.
Then make a change in ED. Then look at the file. Does the modified time change?
If not then there may be a permissions issue with the file.

I rename my bindings file to match the Joystick I am using:
NP-T1600M-FCS.3.0.binds

If you do this then change the second line inside the file to match:
<Root PresetName="NP-T1600M-FCS" MajorVersion="3" MinorVersion="0">

This is one of the reasons backing up bindings files inside the folder is not a good idea as the internal PresetName is the same on multiple files.
