True but I suspect he was more concerned on how to find the bio-signal rather than the actual suits...
You could try Elite Obervatory which actually tells you when you find a planet that has a bio signal.
You get down there and look. Good old Mk.I eyeball.
The first one will be difficult, the next 10 or so less so. Then you'll wonder why some people make such a fuzz - until it's you who wants to find a grey bacterium on an almost-white ice world...
Best option for me is to grab a DBX, then go down in one of the blue areas for the selected bio, keep her low and slow (less than 100 meters high, less than 20 m/s) and look around. After a while you'll get an idea on where you can find what and how it should look like.
I'm often in a courier about 10m above the surface, when I spot what I want I get out and scan, then back in the ship for the next one.
