Hi can biological be found with ship in Odyssey or do I need an Artemis suit

You need an Artemis suit.

That's the suit that has the scanner you use to scan in the biologics.

Though you can find them and add them to your Codex using just the ship but the real point of them is to get out there in your Artemis and collect samples.

Confusing and possibly an oversight. Or a bug.

I know for certain that if I scan with the hand held tool first, I sometimes also get a codex confirmation AFTER I scan with the ship/srv.

Some cmdrs believe scanning biologicals with the tool also adds it into the codex. They could be correct.

I am not certain. In addition to using the hand held tool I always scan with ship/srv and get the confirmation message it was added to the codex.

I am in the category that thinks hand scanning will add to the Codex but I usually scan from the ship first just because it is the easy way to identify what it is before bothering to land, though if the ship is being very wobbly I will just land and ID the thing from the ground which is usually more stable.
