Biome, Region, Climate Mismatch

I'm not sure about the rest of the worlds climate balance in game, but New Zealand definitely has snow. Yet when I create a game located to New Zealand it will only choose between Grassland for Canterbury or Tropical for the rest. We have the worlds only Alpine Parrot. Makenzie which is Grassland definitely snows. West Coast is covered in ferns & moss, definitely wet & it snows. Yet Grassland & Tropical will not allow snow fall temperatures. North Island has Rangipo Desert & Makenzie is barren enough. Diversity is really needed between Regions. Temperate & Alpine need to be available for NZ for sure. Map background choices as Temperate only has farmland hills which is a contradiction to wilderness.
Just chuck that all in the New Zealand DLC with our Kea & a Habitat roof ;D

Frontier isn't going to visit the front-end globe again. They made a single change since the beta after a Chinese player went ballistic over China's biome spread, and said they would never do it again (and thus far they haven't).

Like @NZFanatic has said, sadly, it is unlikely that Frontier will revisit the front-end globe again. Although, this doesn't eliminate the fact that it is in desperate need of corrections, particularly in Oceania, South America, Japan, Florida and Western Asia.

Since you brought it up again, I'll link the thread I've created a while back which discusses the reasons behind the mistakes in the game's original front-end globe and proposes solutions to every single biome issue known. The source map in Wikipedia, which is the cause of the errors in the game, has also been corrected. Currently, only the game's front-end globe is lacking the necessary changes. I hope at some point, Frontier decides to revisit it again.

You have put a lot of effort in! And I agree that the effort is worth seeing the game get even better. It really is a beautiful game. I hope they always just keep adding to it for as long as people are willing to help & obviously buying as money is needed for things. If Frontier doesn't want to effort in too much Climate detail, they could allow biome selection after clicking on the map location then allow a Temp/Weather selection. Some pockets in terrain are just different. Obviously though you are not going to get Arctic in Africa so perhaps have limits.

- Click Map - Use Default or chosen Biome - Select weather/temp parameters -
(both within limits for location)

I think that would be a quick solution & perhaps just as effective without a huge revamp. It would solve locations like desert (barren area), grassland & rainforests with snow or hot summers with freezing winters. Weather systems are already in place so I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to make a change like that. Might even have room to include freak bad winters or summers here & there.

Thank you DrBurrito for your faith in the topic. It lifted my morning. They might never change this but it feels better not throw out the idea that awesome things might still come to an already awesome game. I do wonder if they do give people unpaid positions. Imagine doing the design work on new animals, the little people or Habitat bounds that enable flying birds. Sketch Up Pro on steroids! Likely die from dream of it!
I've completed Gold in all the campaigns including timed ones. Free of that part I'm keen to see how their genes department works. Just love genetics!

I think, or I hope, there will come a point where Frontier will realize that the mismatching biome tags for animals and foliage are getting out of hand and turn on their decision to not make changes to the globe. I mean like look at Australia for instance. No temperate biome on their map, but so many animals and plants with the biome tag.
