Biotech Conductors?

Am I just unlucky or is it intentional that I should have to do wing missions to obtain these?

I had a decent little stockpile of them so I haven't been looking for them in 3.0
Just noticed they were running a bit low, started looking for missions that offer them as a reward and I've yet to find a single Solo mission that offers them but pretty-much every faction I'm allied to (in a variety of systems) has at least 1 or 2 wing-missions which offer them.

They're offered by other missions than skimmer missions. I have 20 of them and never did a skimmer mission in my life.

Any missions generated when you're Allied can have them I think (or any sufficiently valuable missions). I got them from sightseeing tours plenty of times.

You need a high-paying mission (3 million or more) for them. Wing missions are all high-paying enough so you'll see a lot of those offering Biotech Conductors ... on the solo side, the choices are more limited:
- high-volume trades (Extraction economy, or you might get very lucky with a Refinery or High-Tech once in a while)
- surface scans (Elite ranked)
- massacre missions (high-ranked)
- long-range passenger missions

Hmmm....

I guess there's a sort of poetic irony that wing-missions seem to have overrun well-paid solo missions in my "local" systems. [rolleyes]

Must admit, I keep forgetting about passenger missions though.
Have to dust off the Orca and see what's what. [up]

I've run across a decent number in high-end (solo) assassination missions. I was allied with the faction, and I believe they were at war (hence many assassination missions). Not sure what the economy was. Just got 4 or 5 of the suckers earlier today.

IIRC, they were offered as a reward from skimmer missions ... which well... we all know what happened ... LOL

Standard mission reward for Planetary Scan Missions, Boom Time Cargo Delivery, Pirate Lord and the top tier Space Salvage missions including Black Box Missions that require (4) to be recovered.

If it is not BioTech Conductors on offer as a material reward, it will be Modified Embedded Firmware or Exquisite Focus Crystals instead.

If you are not seeing the above mission types, or the top tier versions that pay (5) of these in exchange for CR, then try another system. No reason anyone should sit around refreshing a mission board more than once or twice to get a half dozen or more of these.

Eh, there's a faster technique - direct message if you want it.

But - the basic technique that's best without crossing over into grind-psycho territory, is to do passenger missions currently. Grab a passenger ship, look at passenger missions - cycle the board and you will have some pop up quickly. I've grabbed a few dozen out of Jameson. They have zero threat - I just roll around in a lightweight shieldless orca. Problem with normal missions right now is that it seems like 95% of the good drops require wing missions. Solo missions are quite poor right now. Just cycle passenger missions.

How long does it take to complete the missions roughly?

The over abundance of Wing Missions is an issue I and several others reported during the three Betas. Fortunately, it does not effect every single system/station in the game.

I keep referring folks out to my neck of the woods near Cubeo and the surrounding systems because they are currently not effected by the Wing Mission saturation bug, or a lack of missions that pay in G5 grade materials.

Not saying that won't change, but for now, there are plenty of Solo missions available at over a half dozen systems in the Aisling Duval setor of imperial space.

Before 3.0 I got them from passenger missions I think. Maybe combat or planetary scans. But I got them so much I probably threw away hundreds to save room for my other materials.

They are still being offered in passenger missions.

Biotech Conductors have become a lot more difficult to get definitely. Where there used to be data delivery and skimmer hunting missions that awarded them, now often I will see wing missions instead. I'm convinced that the mission board is taking "high difficulty" (whatever that actually means) missions and flipping them into wing missions.

You may find these rewards spawning more often in high tech systems with factions you are allied to. In fact I think being allied is more important than ever now.

My advice would be to find a faction that hands out a lot of planetary scan missions that has an interstellar factors contact. Get allied with the controlling factions by choosing high rep rewards, and then stack up planetary scan missions and wipe your bounties once you have finished the scans.

I'll pmsg you a location which may help. If it's far out of your way though, keep in mind that the state of the BGS might have been in my favour at the time, so ymmv.

+1 for wing terrorist assassination missions.
These can be completed very quickly with a large ship.

I see them often for delivery and passenger missions too.

I'm seeing them in the planetary scan missions. I've picked up a few myself when I come across them so they are there, though you might have to be allied with the faction to get them offered...
