Biowaste & Limpets: The Next Generation of Mission Rewards

Seriously, FD?

Who the heck wants limpets for a mission reward? Ditto dog-dung?

That's right up there with shielded fuel scoops for Explorers. I hope the 2 Commanders using them are very happy.

I know we had issues with missions rewarding commodities which could be used as requirements for other local missions, but.....limpets and dog-dung??? [blah]

How about some raw material rewards instead? No fetch missions require those.

Please perform an exorcism on these poor mission rewards. Thanks.

Hihi, at least you can tell (in case you mis-clicked in a hurry) : The Mission Reward was... utter s(3char) :D

And seriously, I never considered investing 10-30 Minutes of time to acquire let's say 30 Limpets by running a Mission - instead of simply purchasing them right at the Station.
IMHO either someone at Frontier has a really interesting sense of humor or doesn't comprehend what the term "Reward" actually means.

PS.
Another of my favorites is the Reward Option as seen with many Data Courier Missions :
left) 87.213 Cr, ++Inf, ++Rep
right) 10.000 Cr, ++Inf

I be like... why is the right Reward Option even an Option? It just forfeits a few things for no reason - without gaining anything for doing so (?)

But its really hard to beat Biowaste as a Cargo "Reward", gotta say that.

*uhh* it just dawned on me...
Maybe this is a Prototype of an Anti-Bot Captcha?

These are your Rewards. Are you human or Robot? Choose! (if you choose Limpets or Biowaste, you're flagged as a Botter immediately)

It's far more likely that there's a list of randomized tiered loot a la Elder Scrolls that, due to an oversight, includes Limpets and Biowaste. Probably would get more notice in the Suggestions and Feature Requests section than here in The Salt Mines.

I honestly think this was done on purpose by FD, mainly as a response to the community.

"You want rewards....you get s***"

Dev trolling at it's best.

I'm one of the two. I engineered it to see if there was an experimental effect. Immediately regretted it. When I remember I need to go back and sell it for a new one.

Seems like the are drawing on the wrong commodity list for rewards, I assume you have big reported it, or just after the forum spectacle?

Just imagine they don't have anything around at all.

"Oh, you want commodities with your rewards? Erm... uhm.... well.... How about this... erm... biowaste maybe? No? Oh, well, you asked. Credits then? Great! A pleasure doing business with you."

It's kinda disheartening how they made higher grade Materials be consumed more, whilst making them much harder to obtain, and literally offer us faeces in return. [blah]

I can see the point of biowaste *if* you already had a mission to source biowaste and you came across a separate mission which pays out biowaste, I'm not sure if biowaste is ever in those source/return missions though.
Limpets is a bit odd though, I mean, it's harmless, just ignore it if it's useless to you, but I can't think where someone would choose limpets, unless you're someone who constantly forgets to buy them when you leave a station (like me lol).

CMDRs, you all got that wrong.

Biowaste are a commodity as any other out there. The fact that is stinky, sticky and smells unpleasant doesn't mean it's sh*t. Literally. I can't figure that faeces obsession of yours. Biowaste are not eaten food leftovers. Scraps made while preparing that food. Mowed grass, etc. And agricultural worlds would kill for high quality stuff. So Biowaste are a perfectly fine reward.

All we need is to browse the market data and search for the systems in dire need of Biowaste... oh wait. We don't have such tools and information access without referring to out-of-the-game tools :|

I read about this in another post and thought someone was taking the pis, but then saw a dev make a replay how people might want limpets as a reward. Are they still counted as cargo not ammo or has that at least changed.

Well you don't have to take those missions or accept those specific awards..
Both aren't hugely valuable commodities/ammo but they can make you some money or are useful - maybe something you might accept early on when you are shorter on cash and think you can make a bit more money that way reselling elsewhere?
Not every deal has to be super awesome right?

Ive been scouring the market all day and night and sadly, I cant source a grow tent or a lamp ballast so I just cant use the biowaste this time...pity...

Ok, but what is the point of offering a reward that you can buy in the same station at a lower price or that constituted 0.02% of the mission payout?? Why would you take limpets that considering credit reward reduction will cost you more than just buying them from the station?

Sure not every deal has to be awesome, you are right - but every reward should be at least slightly beneficial compared to what you can buy at this particular market. Otherwise it is just a waste of time designing a thing like this.

Also, when you've just completed a mission that pays 23 millions getting 12 tons of biowaste to haul them for extra 7000 credits does seem like a waste of time, right? For a bigger ship that will MAYBE cover your fuel.

There used to be a time when games did that and people just thought it was a slightly funny and stupid little quirk. These days it's some highly political "immersion-breaking" bug.

Get a grip, folks.
