Bit confused by the rank progression towards a Permit

Hi All

I am now friendly with the Federation itself as well as a few affiliated factions, but I still don't seem to be getting any missions on the bulletin board that will help rank me to get permits. Anyone help on what I need to do? Is it just a matter of time now they are friendly with me or is there something I need to do to kick start it?

If you search the forums (using Google!) you will find lots of threads on this subject.

But the short version is:

Do missions for the Feds - mercy ones (like food, meds, etc) are good - although you wont make money on them
Trading with the local Fed factions helps, as does Bounty Hunting.

You may have to move systems a bit, as it seems that the factions you're 'allied' with give less of them!

Stick with it, and you'll get a rank progression opportunity soon enough...

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll keep plugging away, the missions always seem to be for the factions rather than the Federation itself but I guess they are all helping!
