Bit of an Asp kicking

I have an Asp with grade C upgrades and class 6 shields and saw that there was a conflict in a nearby system, so jumped in for my first taste....

I chose my side confident that a low intensity conflict zone shouldn't be a problem and got stuck in, in less than a minute my shield cells were used, and shield had collapsed. Noting that my reasonable weaponry hadn't made much of a dent I bravely sir robined and ran away.

I made it out with 77% hull and a lesson well learned, but my question is: What kind of ship/upgrades are required for these conflict zones?

Any gear should suffice, to an extent ... sounds like you got into squabble with more than one heavy hitter at once. Then again, I'm not certain because I don't go anywhere "outdoors" without A-gear.

Maybe i was just a little unlucky, there was a cloud of ships and I have no idea what was hitting me but it was impressive!

I've had a number of successful sorties in combat zones with my C6 shielded Asp, with a B3 shield cell bank. Various weapons. A mix of lasers and kinetic weapons is advised.

I've been going to conflict zones in an Eagle. I've taken down several NPC Pythons as well as a couple of Anacondas and various smaller ships. Bigger isn't necessarily better. I haven't been blown up yet although ironically I got a an Asp kicking off an Asp and ran away with 6% hull :D

Back in beta the "secret" to conflict zones was to not aggro more than one enemy at once, so you only fight one on one. I've read things are different now though (never been into one in ages honestly), but any way when you get swarmed things get difficult for any ship/loadout and you want to disengage quickly.
By the way, I'm flying the asp by some day now, I really like it but I came to the conclusion that it's not really a fighting ship; think about it more like an armoured transport. It has heavy shields and good hardpoints and it's a beast against the odd pirate, but it's not maneuverable and fast enough to dictate the fight in a more intense situation. Still I have to try A thrusters on mine though.

best one are the cap ships they do most of the work for you got a heavy hitting anaconda wait for the cap to start attacking it.

As soon as I chose my side around 8 ships become hostile. I'm pretty certain that what belted me one was a python or conda due to the shape, but I was too busy releasing chaff and engaging my A3 shield cell after my barrage of fire pretty much bounced off. I have a mix of beams and multi cannons.

Best thing for the 1st few attempts is to get well clear of the action before choosing sides. If you just float into the middle of the battle & press the button, you will get hit by NPC Python & Anaconda very quickly. Also found this out the hard way :)

PYTHON!111!!!!!!!!!1111one!!!!!!!1111!
Seriously tho, i just got one, fitted it with two class 2 gimballed pulse lasers (for small, fast targets) and 3 class 3 pulse lasers, no upgrade to shields, no shield cell banks, no power distributor upgrades but stilll...
it kicks ass.

Lol, the Python is my next ship of choice unless they nerf it to death or some new ships come along. Wont sell my Asp though cos I love the thing :)

In the middle of a warzone firefight I reckon you wan to be small and fast, so far I've found the Eagle and the Viper have better survive-ability, a Cobra works but it's a big target for hostile and friendly fire (there's no such thing as friendly fire but you know what I mean ;)) and as mentioned above pick your targets and keep close with the friendlies i.e. don't get isolated, I usually build a cheap ship on location rather than use whatever I'm currently flying.

Good call, I'll park the Asp and kit out a viper, that way if it goes boom it doesn't matter.
