Black Friday Games

I am currently into Anachronox which is on GOG for a pittance. It's a very quirky, silly dystopian sci-fi RPG created by the Deus Ex folks way back during the turn of the century (2001?). It's a very precious antique. The silliness is on par with Douglas Adams. It does take awhile to get rolling. You can use Reshade to make it look a little better, too.

I bought The Talos Principle and The Long Dark because they were the most discounted things on my wishlist and I felt it was my duty to buy something.

Talos is a good one... Never tried The Long Dark though.

We Happy Few is 30% off iirc. Still too much for my purse, but if you wanna know what life in the UK is like...

Long Dark is a brilliant piece of work (read through the thread in the other games sub forum).

Its the first time I played a survival game where it actually felt like you were fighting to survive, instead of mowing down company strength numbers of zombies at every turn.

We Happy Few looks like fun - Bioshock on acid by the looks of it (probably literally having read the description) That's now on the wishlist for when it drops down in price.

Looking forward to playing Talos if I can stop playing this space game which has its hooks in me.

Golf Club 2 is only £5.99 now (-80%) - getting it now, don't know what it will be like but at that price - nae danger Jimmy.

The new version (GolfCLub2019) is reduced to £26.99 (-40%) but I am not going to bother with that.

EDIT - Golf Club 2 is a steal at 6 squids - once I realised I should have my game controller attached it runs great. [up]

Have both enjoyed/enjoy both.
You bought good games (imo), hope you'll like them.
Be very careful with "We happy Few", make sure to read up on it.

Talos is fantastic. Didn't expect to enjoy it so much but it felt absolutely perfect. The bite-sized puzzles, the few larger hidden ones, the areas, the narrations, the logs, the world design, the soundscape... I was a bit emotional at the end. And then there's the DLC for even more, and past that you have the Steam workshop with player made levels. That Talos gold pack on Steam is insane value right now. [up]

As for me, I picked up two I had on the wishlist for a while: Okami HD and Bokida: Heartfelt Reunion. Love games with alternative aesthetic so...

So far i bought "Stellar Tactics" (a rare early access entry into my library), "Hearts of Iron IV" and the "Walking the Tiger" expansion (yeah, i know Goose, Paradox again.:)), "The Council", and the "Vaulters" expansion for "Endless Space 2" (ES2: may i say highly recommended ?)
Weekend not over yet though, so still having a long, hard look at "Frostpunk" and "Total War: Warhammer II"), plus the odd expansion for this 'n that.

Excellent, thank you :)

Careful how / why? It looks fun, slightly unusual and off the wall and set in England which is nice.

Do you think it'll make me start taking virtual drugs or something? :)

I had it wish-listed for a long time myself, i understand the appeal you refer to.
It was a KS game which got bought up by Gearbox (who immediately doubled the retail price), and then turned into something much different than the original design had aimed at.
Another criticism you'll find is that it's very buggy and glitchy.
As i said, dig a bit deeper yourself. My own concerns may not worry you at all, just don't buy it on trailers and first impressions alone.:)

Thanks for the warning, I'm not buying it yet so will check out any potential issues in advance. :)

Since you liked Talos, i think you could do worse than having a look at thisone.
Y'know, you think you know you're games and what's what, and then you stumble upon a gem you had never heard of:

I will be honest, I got tons of 1$ troll games and some anime crap... But also new MP Battlefield clone called World War 3 - appears to be very cool alternative for BF made by some inde bunch from Poland.

It does have massive Myst vibes, will push it on the wishlist for when I need a new puzzler. I have The Witness started already and Bokida penciled in for after already. Cheers for the recommendation, I had never ever come across it, which is pretty amazing for a 2 year old game in a somewhat restricted genre.

Yeah, every now and then one slips through the net, doesn't it ?:)
Been looking at "The Witness " myself, but that "puzzler" urge needs to return first.
And it will.:)
