Hello and welcome to the Black Hole Mapping Project!
This is a request to all commanders exploring the galaxy.
Please submit the system names of all black holes you find.
what is the Black Hole Mapping Project?
basically it's a simple list of systems that contain at least one black hole.
i aim for a spreadsheet with several tabs each refering to a region in the galaxy according to the Galactic Mapping Project.
so it's a list huh?! what's that useful for?
1. it will satisfy my own curiosity about how many black holes we are able to find
2. it adds another thing for us to do as a community
3. we create a list of systems other commanders can use as reference and we can guide them to the more intresting black hole systems
4. the most important point
SPREADSHEETS!! who doesn't love spreadsheets!?
how do i submit systems for the spreadsheet?
it's simple: open the spreadsheet and add the system names to the "new systems" tab
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HjsBLdK3YYgb0GXc6CxPn4zaDRYSu0heBMLOJhKjEUQ/edit?usp=sharing
what data should i provide?
+ system name
+ general galactic region the system is in (in accordance with the galactic mapping project)
+ a short comment in case the system has something "special" about it e.g. an ELW, many black holes, or something like that
+ your commander name in order for me added you to the contributors list
+ additional info not mandatory:
system has EDSM coordinates (yes / no / don't know)
scan data is submitted to EDDN (partial / complete / don't know)
oh and please be patient with me as i try to improve the spreadsheet... i have very little experience creating things like that ;-)
suggestions on how to improve the spreadsheet are welcome
if you want to know the story of how i came up with this, you can read it below.
BE WARNED! i totally suck at writing stories and english isn't my native language
to prevent some posts below possibly getting out of context here's the original OP:

in 3301, not to long after i managed to A-rate my first AspX, i set off on my first big exploration trip.
the goal wast to travel halfeway around the galactic core (clockwise) and go back to the bubble through the core with a stop at Sagittarius A and the Great Annihilator.
However things turned out to be quite different than what i had planned when i found one of the GREA EAESCS AA-A H Black Hole systems.
An intense check of the galaxy map revealed several more of the GREA EAESCS AA-A H Black Hole systems and i quickly noticed a pattern in the system names.
this lead me to identify all of the GREA EAESCS AA-A H Black Hole systems.
due to the lack of bookmarks back then i had to use the good old pen and paper bookmarks (i didn't think of using excel... silly me).
after writing down all of the systems i started visiting and completely scanning them.
when i jumped to GREA EAESCS AA-A H9, a system with 5 black holes and several terraforming candidates, i decided to head back to the bubble quickly (obviously because i wanted that system tagged).
after submitting my exploration data and getting my name on my shiny new favourite system i stayed in the bubble till well after 2.0 went life.
a long time had passed and i finally decided to start a second attempt to visit sagittarius A in 3302. this time heading straight (more or less) to the core and back.
once again things turned out differently as i discovered a new black hole field and i started to scan those systems.
a good thing that, by that time, bookmarks were ingame and i didn't have to use pen and paper bookmarks again.
while takeing my time scanning i noticed that jaques station had its second ongoing exploration data cg which made me abort my Sag. A trip and head straight to jaques for said cg.
staying at jaques and exploring the eol prou systems i once again found black holes (you didn't see that coming huh?
).
this time though the black hole density was way higher than anything i had seen before.
bookmarking the eol prou black hole systems quickly used up all of my bookmarks forcing me to delete the old ones. that was the point that gave birth to my spreadsheet -originally nothing more than external bookmarks stored in an excel file.
of course i also added the eol prou systems i had bookmarked ingame as well as the ones i couldn't bookmark due to the bookmark limmit.
scanned systems remained in the spreadsheet with a "scan complete" comment as i went through the list.
with the announcement of patch 2.2 i headed back to the bubble in order to unlock and level up all the engineers.
deleting the ingame bookmarks and adding the systems to the spreadsheet in case i decide to continoue scanning them in the future was one of the first things i did after my return to the bubble.
afterwards i quickly forgot about the spreadsheet as i leveled up the engineers and gathered some credits to finally realize one of my big dreams... buying an anaconda.
somewhere i took note of the distant stars expedition which i immediately signed up for.what followed after that was a lot of engineering on my anaconda for distant stars and, between x-mas 3302 and new year, a quick trip to Sagittarius A and back (this time for real).
skipping to right after DSE where i had a lot of fun exploreing the M67 cluster together with about 350 other commanders, i felt somehow lost on what to do in this great game i enjoy so much.
time investment into the game dropped and i started cleaning up old files i stored on my harddrives when i finally discovered my bookmarks file again.
finally found something to do again!
driven by the great memories and the good feeling of having acomplished something together with the community during DSE i changed my "let's see how many black hole systems i find - list" into the Black Hole Mapping Project to share it with the community.

hey commanders
for anyone who is interested i started a spreadsheet with all the black hole systems i found.
feel free to use it
no need to hold back on scanning systems i didn't visit up to now.
I got my name on more than enough of them... especially the GREA EAESCS AA-A H systems ^^
also if you want to add some systems please do so in the tab "new systems". I'll move them to the other tabs from time to time.
this spreadsheet is not about first discoveries... so if you find a system that's already tagged just add it.
