Black Holes!!!

I am an absolute FANATIC about black holes. I know a ton about them, and I find them to be one of the most fascinating things in the universe. When I found out they were in the game (and actually had gravitational lensing), I was incredibly happy and can't wait to get an Asp and go to Saggi A in the center of the galaxy, which I will attempt no matter how long it takes me. But in the meantime, I want to hear everyone's experiences with them in game. Has anyone flown into one, or dumped cargo? Did anything happen? Share your stories.

Unsure how you can know so much about them since they are theoretical and no one has ever seen one as far as I know.... BUT I hope they are wormholes. ;) Or if not, then I hope there are wormholes in the game. Peace.

You can observe something without seeing it. Also Maths.

I'm assuming they would look like a big area of nothing. Other than maybe a lensing effect on the edges?
Not if they had an accretion disk and were feeding on another star.

I know a lot of the generally accepted theories about them. Their gravitational affects have in fact been observed, if not them themselves.

OP, check this thread:

CMDR Nutter posts a video of him jumping into a system with a black hole, and you get a look at the gravitational lensing effect in that video.
Yes, that is in fact where I noticed the effect! But unfortunatly the OP didn't fly into the black hole :(

Unfortunately E : D treats them exactly like it does stars. You'll drop out of SC if you get too close and will quickly overheat and be destroyed just like being in close proximity to a visible star.

They also don't pull you in or any cargo you drop, but then neither do stars or planets.

Dang. Well, maybe in the future we can get some cool black hole effects

Not that anyone is asking me, but I had a hope for black holes. As I am quite interested in high energy physics (why? No idea - I just find it enthralling - might be a reason that one of the functions of a physics engine I worked on included needless functions for calculations of Hawking radiation as well as temperatures of black holes), I would have programmed that as a result of the FSD, you would possibly (note the word that just passed) survive the trip, but you would take serious damage, none of your instrumentation would function correctly (literally, burned out), your temperature would reduce to nearly 0%, and you could end up anywhere in the solar system (based on the fact that the game is centered in the solar system, it would be unfair to spit you into Andromeda, NGC 4594 (Sombrero Galaxy or what have you)).

Note: not complaining, I was just hoping, since some of that outcome would be a cool way to deal with something like that.

Seems to want to die in a gravitationally uncontrollable whimper as posited by the likes of Leonard Susskind and Stephen Hawking, not a bang.

Those are exactly the type of cool, unique effects I was hoping for as a fellow physics enthusiast.
