Black Market and goods stolen

It's usually not illegal in America, but it is considered a little scummy to not try to find out whom it belongs to.

Having said that... in Elite the pilot who lost the canisters would be dead, so I think that it should be fine if you happen across some floating around.

Well no you see, he could be ferrying around regolian space plants. So maybe he was cruising around way off in a low populated system and thought 'Hey, this is a nice sunny spot! I bet my regolian space plants will grow really well here!' so he dumped his regolian space plants, inside their canisters, into empty space to grow a little and went off to the next space pub to get some space drinks (with lots of bubbles, because space) in the mean time.

Imagine how he'll feel if he comes back a few hours later, a little bit sloshed but all anticipative and finds his precious regolian space plants gone!

If the transporter was already wanted, I wonder if the goods that you pick up might be legit.

Have you tried selling them at a regular (non-black) market?

Yeah...first place I tried was Dahan refinery. No go. Heading to a LP- system tonight. Will report back if I'm able to sell them there.

I was thrilled to find some combine harvesters floating around, but the Aulin station scanned me, and then shot me down outside as I was flying in to dock.

So how do you manage to get into a station to see whether there is a black market or not? I thought only anarchies had them.

All of these replies confuse me.

I retrieved stolen goods, Hydrogen fuels..

tried to get into romanko estate by using silent running and heatsinks, I let the docking computer get me to the door, once within the docking entrance i was blown to bits by security, they didn't even have to scan me.
All the while getting an incoming message message which didn't exist.

So how? how do you even get into the station with black market goods?

Me thinks this is a bug....maybe. :D

Are you saying that if i went to i-Chango with the stuff i wouldn't have been blown up?
Even if scanned?

was silent running the right choice?

I'd love to be on the same page as everyone that's commented before me

I have beens elling a lot of 'stolen' goods in stations, what sometimes happens though is that a patrol ship infront of the stations cans you, that could have killed you. I haven't been shot down even once by a station just because I had stolen goods in my cargo.

I think this all has to do with having a cargo full of stolen goods. Unless something changed in the most recent patch.
In my case, I had 4 Uraninite that were "stolen". I didn't realize that Chango Dock had a black market (it's under contacts) so went to 1 of the LP planets & sold it there. But then was flagged as "Wanted" in the I Bootis & Aulin Systems.

As for being blown up as you are entering the starport...that's just wrong. Not even giving you a chance to redeem yourself and pay your fine. Then again...you WERE hauling stolen goods. :)

So, ignore incoming message bug... boost to station before anyone gets a chance to scan you
(docking computer takes a long time to dock but ile risk it one more time)

Or goto Freedom city and get marked.

It's difficult enough to find a hotspot that has cargo floating about and nowone that wants to kill you.
It'll probably be a while before i bother again.

But thanks for the tidbits of info, it's good to know that it is possible, maybe it was my bounty.. 400CR gets you blown up.
(it was the station not a ship)
