Horizons Black Market Price-Logic Question

Hello CMDRS,

I would like to know if anyone has found a logic behind Black market goods. So do Black Markets in Hi-tech systems pay more than Black Markets in Anarchies for example, and does it depend on which good type is sold where?

Or are there any other mechanics to take into consideration.

Is there any logic to be found or is it just random?

Thank you.

The price you can sell the goods for is lower than normal market. The logic behind it is that as stolen goods are 100% profit, you are sharing it with your fence/broker/contact/whoever it is that runs the black market.

The prices themselves are influenced by state of the system and demand. Not the economy type.

(AFAIK. Someone may want to correct me, but this is my experience)

Yes, the 50% value that I could find on several threads on the internet was not correct. I got prices that were about 80% of the galactic average.

Can you elaborate as to what states in particular have a tendency to get the price up? Are you refering to the Power Play states?

Demand I presume has something to do whether said system imports that particular good or not regardless if stolen or not, right?

The prices are 50% of the actual price that you would get on the market, not 50% of galactic average, so if the demand is high and the prices are 160% of galactic average, you'll receive 80% of galactic average on the black market.

Boom is the best state for general trading, during war you can supply them with weapons, outbreak systems need medicines, systems in famine will pay a good money for food, etc... In other words, it's hard to say what's the "best" state. It depends on what you're trading with.

And yes, in my experience. Though every commodity that the station doesn't manufacture can be theoretically of high demand (and therefore they will buy it above galactic average) but the goods listed in the system map seem to be the best bet.

Hey Simon,

Thanks to take the time to explain this, it really helps out for the piracy career to be more meaningful. It sheds some light to focus in which economy type one should hunt to acquire the kind of goods you wish to 'liberate', and then look at the state as to sell the booty with maximum return credit wise.

I got a bit bored with the 'Bounty Hunting' side of things, and this certainly is worth looking into.

Thank you again for the dissertation.
